Default Tv Series worth watching from the top

Okay - I have now watched the series...
  • Lost
  • Breaking Bad
  • Mad Men
  • Downton Abbey
  • Dexter
  • Deadville
  • Six Feet Under
  • Bones
  • House
  • The Killing
  • Sons of Anarchy
I want more like the above - all were great. But I don't know what to watch now. I like good plot lines (don't care for supernatural like "Perception" or depressing topics like "NCIS."

I tired watching Damages (boring), we watched "Revenge" but the series got convoluted and we couldn't keep the poltline straight. We already watch most of the other ongoing dramas on TV; Suits, Falling Skies, Franklin & Bash, White Collar, Covert Affairs, Necessary Roughness...

We gave up on HBO, CineMax, Showtime, etc - we realized we never watched them anymore.

Any suggestions?

There is a show called: "Game of Thrones" on HBO that I find excellent. You do need to watch it from the beginning in order to really appreciate it. Peter Dinklage is excellent in the show and I understand why he won last year's Emmy.

I'm waiting for Dexter to return. I really like that show.

House lost me about two years ago when he ran his car through Cuddy's window. After that it just became too "House-Centric" and really not interesting.

I do like Sons of Anarchy but my wife will not even watch it.

I tried to watch "The Walking Dead" but that turned into a Zombie Soap Opera. Who's fooling around with who........wait Zombie, shoot.

Last night we stayed up catching up on Top Chef Masters and Big Brother. Big Brother is pure mind candy. Betty likes Big Brother so I started watching a couple of recorded episodes and was hooked with her. I am a bit embarassed to admit it but it's sort of like riding a scooter. You don't want your friends to know you do it but it sure is fun.

Take care,
Mike

Both Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy - my wife thought she would hate them but sat through the first episodes - she was completely hooked on both of them.

I will try Big Brother.

I have also heard Wired, and Boardwalk Empire are good. I really like the dramas with ongoing plots (NOT like walking dead - I know exactly what you mean).

My wife will not watch comedies (dunno why) - but last night I watched a bit or Portlandia - pretty funny.

I have a cousin who produces shows for PBS Boston that are very interesting and informative .

You might want to try the NOVA Science series .

I was addicted to LOST when it was on, and watched the entire 6 seasons on DVD when it was over. I liked it because it required half a brain to understand it - I like to think and figure things out, instead of some of that mush they feed us on primetime.

The only other series I have loved, and am still loving on DVD, is the Big Bang Theory. Yes it is a comedy, not a drama, but it is "cerebral" comedy, again, you have to have half a brain to understand it - and it is hilariously funny!

RD, "Doctor Who" is excellent for the brain.
It is fun to watch a programme that sets you up slowly during a series and then one show brings all the questions together to answer them all at once with a serious twist at the end. Lots of fun.
(This is the modern series of course)

As for BBT that is so hilarious all the way through, which I think is money very well spent.
I even downloaded the "Whip" app for my phone as well.

We really enjoyed the new Dallas on TNT. Season is over but will return in January. We also watch Falling Skies, Ice Road Truckers and Storage wars. Longmire, season is over now, was a real surprise for me. I enjoyed it very much.

One that I really loved was The Prisoner .
The modern series is way better than the original series as that was just a single story per episode.
But these show's, the story spans the whole series and the series are all connected to previous ones.

Was "The Prisoner" the original English show circa 1960's/70's???

Sisters
The Middle
The Misfits

--- I am looking for good dramas with strong plot lines. Somehow Burn Notice just doesn't do it for me, its all explosions and people with super-weapons (not real).

I like Necessary Roughness, Suits and White Collar because they usually have some kind of underlying plot and the characters are well-written and likable.

The Killing was really good, Sons of Anarchy was really good - in terms of shows with a moving plot where it was like a long movie. Lost was the best ever.

They are something like The Sopranos, Dexter, Six Feet Under and other shows are pay channels. Homeland Security on Showtime started out great - and then it just disappeared unresolved. I guess it is coming back in a few months.

Those are the ones I like.

I love community, i could Marathon it every weekend if i had the time.

I used to love a good drama series, but just recently have been getting into more comedic series. Bummed that community will be moving to fridays (usually means its on its way out), also bummed it's the last season of the office (although the shark was well jumped when michael scott left). The only reality show i watch is hells kitchen, it is terrible this season, but the middle was renewed 3 more seasons yay!

Wouldn't mind trying to find something dramatic and interesting!
O, and thanks to this post i believe, i had a walking dead nightmare last night...lol

Oh and yes aerospace, willow was very hot!

Kind of like Mary Hartman Mary Hartman. That show was a classic (made Martin Mull famous).
