Hi all. Have you ever seen anyone wear their military uniform on formal night? My husband wants to wear his and I was just curious if anyone has ever worn one on formal night. We are going on a cruise in July.

Hi Missy,
I think almost everyone enjoys seeing a man in uniform, tell the husband to go for it. I bet he will look great and it is considered dressing "formal". ![]()

On a cruise 2 yrs ago we had a cabin across from us that the husband wore his dress uniform. It is perfectly acceptable. They had a formal pic taken and it turned out great. Go for it! Char

Missy - I have worn my formal military unifrom (Navy Captain) on several cruises and will do so on a cruise in June. It has always enhanced my cruise experience such as:
1. One women had her picture taken with me and she was going to pass me off as the Captain of the Ship to her friends back home; 2. Was invited to dine at the Captain's table and an invite to the bridge. 3. A group of Hispanic cruisers once dubbed me in a most endearing manner "El Capitan" for the week . One of the lighter down-side of being in the Navy is that cruise passengers often approach me with questions such as where is the nearest restroom or what time does the show begin. Mostly though, I have many terrific veterans approach me and we spend time swapping those great military stories. So by all means, wear that uniform. Robbie |

I have seen at least one on every cruise I have been on. Last week on Triumph, there was a group of about 6. Also saw a couple dressed in traditional Mexican clothes - I was a pleasant sight to see.

Missy,
Yes, I have seen military personnel in uniform on formal nights also. It is very appropriate. By way of clarification, your husband should wear his "mess dress" or "dinner dress" uniform. Norm. |

My husband wore his Navy mess dress on our last cruise. As usual, he loked great and it was definitely appropriate. More so than what a lot of men waer now on formal nights. We decided to be more low key this time on our September cruise and he'll wear a regular tux instead. More of a security reason so as not to draw attention to the fact he's a US Naval officer.
