Default My Cruise is Cancelled!

At least that's what it says on carnival's site this morning. I'm waiting until the TA opens and they will be hearing from me. I called carnival this morning and they said it was because payment had not been received. I checked online with bank and the check i wrote to the TA cleared this morning. I'm hoping that the money the TA sent to carnival just hasn't caught up yet? What else could be wrong???

Maybe i'm panicing too soon?? i still have over a year to go --hubby said to give it a few days--but still they should have the reservation--I booked Friday and i don't have to have full payment till next May.

Its not your fault, you paid your TA in good time. Its up to your TA to straighten it out with Carnival.

Hi karessamom, Maybe with the longweekend in the USA, your TA just did not get the info/money to Carnival. You do have lots of time to get it straightened out;I know it must seem like a big hassle. I have a feeling everything should work out fine. Let us know. Brenda in Canada

Carnival as a courtesy will hold a reservation for 72 hours without a hold from TA. After that time, if the TA has not followed up, it is automatically dropped off the system. This does not mean your cabin has been given to someone else, it only means your TA didn't follow up with a hold. I hope your TA honors your request as the original agreement given you initially. Sounds as if the TA dropped the ball on this one.

Jason I was told that Carnival was not holding reservations anymore unless they had the deposits in hand. I would be curious if that is true or not? Did anyone else hear this?Or just me?

When i went into modify my cruise it still looked like there was a $500 dep. due--it sounds like they (Carnival) hasn't gotten their check from the TA. My agent explained to me that she didn't want to overnight it and because of the holiday she said she knew it wouldn't make it. but it's again on the system and apparently the money is on it's way to carnival so they should have it.-- I'm not really too concerned now because it's so far away and i haven't booked a specific cabin--just a balcony gty. so i won't be assigned until next July or Aug.--just didn't want to loose the reservation. I think it's taken care of.
Pays to have a good TA.

When you pay your TA with cash or a check they have to send the cruiseline a check from their agency. Many agents send it overnight but regardless it was a holiday weekend and the mail can be slow even if you send a check overnight so Carnival may not show the payment in yet. I am sure you will have a confirmation soon of the payment made and seeing you say you booked a guarantee I see no reason why you would not have a booking especially this far out. Just make sure your TA gives you a copy of the confirmation that they will receive from the cruise line once they get it.

When you make the final payment if you are paying in cash or by check I would suggest you pay a week or so early of the due date so that the TA has the money to the cruise line on time.
