Default Travel Agent Suggestions

I went to talk to a TA about a cruise I'm planning and I was very disappointed b/c all she did was call Carnival and ask them the rates. I could have done that myself! I hate calling Carnival though b/c they are so pushy always trying to get you to book right then even when you tell them you have no clue if you are definitely going to do it.

I've always heard of people getting deals with a TA or OBC or something, but this one just refused anything....Any suggestions on this??

I suggest a cruise-only agency because they know their product.

I went into one travel agency to actually book a crusie. She was busy and told me she would call and check. I told her the details (ship, sailing date, destination) and she called me back later and told me that that sailing and destination doesn't exist. It did....I sensed that she wasn't the one I would want to deal with so I asked for info only and went to another agency I knew of and booked the same ship, date, and destination. I politely said thanks to her and let it go at that.

The agency I booked the next cruise at is a reputable agency, but I am sensing a feeling of alienation from them. I booked it, so now getting info and my copy of the invoice for booking is taking forever. They are busy, but I am giving them a nice commission. I wish there was a cruise only agency within a reasonable distance from where I live, but I don't drive and the closest is is a bedroom community just southeast of where I live (a good 20-30 minute drive to get there). The agent also referred to ship I booked as the "Liberty of the Seas"...I booked the "Carnival Liberty."

Moral, find a travel agent you are comfortable with and doesn't see you as an easy commission!

I'd check out the lady that does a lot of our Cruisemates cruises and give her a call or an e-mail. She's very good and gets back to you right away.

I love my pvp with Carnival. We went to school together and she always finds me great upgrades! Last time we went from a 1C to a 4A and for this cruise we got extended balconies and past guest discounts! Let me know if you want her name... she isn't pushy at all!

Wasnt sure if we can name names, but seems allowed here? Costco will give you a nice discount on Carnival cruises, 10% of the commissionable part of the cruise price.

Maybe you can try www.cruisesonly.com , very professional. Since I don't live in the states, I book most of my cruises with them. They also have a review of all ships on their side. Reservation fee 19,95 but well worth it

I second Donna's advice. I've had very, very good luck with her after several bookings. No problems. She also is extermely pleasant and always returns your calls.

Well keep in mind that every travel agent will have to "call" Carnival. It is Carnival that is providing the service. That being said there are some agents that are more motivated and more knowledgable of special promotions that may be going on. Try to find a good one!

I third Donna's suggestion. She is wonderful and I just booked the 2009 Bloggers cruise and I have booked 3 others with her. We just sailed on the Freedom for Thanksgiving and our Shipboard credit was supposed to be 75 per room when I went to put my money down for the sail and sign they said that I had 100 Shipboard credit. So I will always go through her first!! Good Luck and happy sailing!

Hi RonKay,
Just look in the section here on Cruisemates for the Cruisemates group cruises, all the information is there.

For many years we used one of the on-line cruise agencies. Before booking we would always check with other agencies to see if we were getting the best value. Once or twice we found a lower rate being offered after we had booked, and the on-line agency lowered our rate. We never had any problems with the on-line agency. In September '07 we booked the 4B's Group Cruise with the agent that Cruisemates uses for some of their group cruises. We were very impressed with the service we received from her. I agree with Donna, Kelzbelz, and Beenie Weenie she is very efficient. She has been able to give us lower rates on other cruises. You can contact her by email or phone, and she will get back with you promptly. After the 4B's cruise in September, we have booked four more cruises with her. She definitely gets our vote. So far she has given us the lowest price on all our cruises.

I've booked my last three cruises through Cruises-N-More and have been very happy with their service.
