Default Poseidon Adventure Remake on NBC, What ship was used?

Does anyone know what cruise line/ship was used in this re-make?

At first glance it looked like a NCL ship.

My husband will let you know after he watches the tape. (had to tape it for him, he's at work!)

I am watching it now, now that I look at it more it looks more like an older RCI ship.

The at sea aerial shots are clearly computer generated.

I read some where that all outside shots are computer, and of course inside is a set.

The shots of the ship in port at the begining look real. Hmmm someone will know for sure.

There's no ship involved. I watched until the ship flipped, and this thing was so bad I couldn't go on.

Saw one scene where ships flags were supposed to be visible through a window... only it was obvious it was a still picture behind the glass

Kuki, We don't want it to look to real. Our problem, was we had seen the fist one so many times, we spent the whole movie wandering who was playing who's part.

The first one was sooooo lame I didn't bother with the remake. Too many flaws in logic. Nobody in Hollywood does their homework properly.... ever.

And the only ones who ever hold them to account are Trekkers.... and the future has yet to happen.

We thought it was made to look like an older Princess ship (even with the light blue lettering). They added cabins, etc to the front of the ship to make it look like nothing on the market right now.

We *laughed* when we saw the porters at the pier in the Philip Morris Boys outfits ... yep, like all porters we have ever seen.

The cabins, of course, were most generous in size, but at least they were a tad more realistic than Love Boat etc.

But I'm like you, after it overturned, I was outta there.

(Oh and we kept making jokes about no dessert service after the kitchen started falling apart)

Harry

P.S. And Art said it was the first Captain he ever heard whom he did not have trouble understanding when speaking English.

Stupid award comes to mind for this movie, if you want to call it entertaining (yawn). Lack of conformity to truth or fact; inaccuracy.

As for the ship, a generated computer enhancement.

I can't believe my wife and I actually watched this flick. Do have to admit we switched to the Food channel and HGTV.

If they do a re-run hopefully we will be at a funeral, maybe my own.

TRUE cruisers know that this movie is a piece of crap!!!! Got to watch it in spurts while doing my bedtime med pass in a number of my patients rooms - they were enthralled, but none of them has EVER been on a cruise - I asked!

Computer generated cruise ship image - I thought they took features of many different cruise ships and made it so everyone thought they might recognize it.

Sounds like I should be happy I missed it and decided to watch Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy instead.

Some movies were not worthy of being filmed the first time, some should never be remade. Posiedon Adventure is one of those rare films that qualified on both counts.

I agree it was pretty bad, I watched the whole thing because I had never seen the first one.

Speaking of bad......4 words.... "Speed 2 Cruise Control"

I must admit..this was one of THE worst acting jobs of some very good actors. It was just, like, so fake. DW had never seen the original, so I told her that if it ever comes on, I will tape it for her. I think the first one was much better and that is not saying much. I DID like the first one though because I was so young and in LOVE with the girl singer. I do not even remember her name. Is that not just like a man in puppy love.

Rob..I disagree..Sandra Bullock has never made a bad movie.

I like Sandra Bullock too, that movie was just so far fetched.

I had never cruised before when I saw that movie (Speed 2), I thought when watching that movie that the ship was so HUGE. Later I learned that it was a Seabourn Cruise ship, which is much smaller when compared to like a RCI or Carnival Ship. The wonders of the film industry.

"It's Got to Be the Morning After"......(or something like that). I really liked that song.
I've seen the original a couple of times-had never cruised. But, did learn like the other poster sometime back, that the thinnest part of the hull is by the propellers. If you've seen the original, you know why!
I missed the remake===when was it on?? Saturday night we watched "Raising Helen" and "National Treasure" on STARZ. The first B2B in awhile that we sat through together.
I also saw Speed 2. We kept looking to see where the ship went in at St. Maarten where it was supposedly filmed.
Since I have been cruising, I have no desire to see the Poseidon Adventure. I'll stick with Titanic!!! Lynne

I never watched the first movie, and I certainly didn't want to watch the remake! LOL

BigJohn....you DID get me with that almost song title. It's actually "There's Got to be a Morning After", and it's Maureen McGovern that you were so in love with. And it's now YOUR fault that song is running through my head!!

According to the Wikki, some was shot on the Queen Mary 2, but the majority was CGI.
