Default Tiered Sundecks around Pool - like them??

I have noticed that a lot of newer ships have the tiered sundecks with lounges around the pool area. I did not like this on the Destiny because it was hard to walk down them to get to a free chair - not enough room with people putting their chairs every which way. Do you like the tier deck system and why?? Debbie

Well they definitely make drinking poolside more hazardous. 8^)

Tweety - why do you like them? I only experienced them once and was curious why they are doing all the new ship this way - most people must like them - why?? Just curious question. debbie

I liked it. That arrangement was on the Diamond Princess. I found a whole disserted area on the top deck, perfect for reading a book. The climb is a pain in the tail, though.

When I sailed on Destiny, I never really gave it much thought except I did find it to be a bit like a maze trying to go up and down and round and round the railings looking for a spot. Dislike it, no. Like it, no. Just "noticed " it because it was a bit different.

I toured the Destiny when she was in Boston, when she was brand spanking new..The one thing I came away with was....Boy I hated the pool area. I cannot imagine it being easy to maneuver for elders, or children. On my last cruise, people were falling all over the place. I could picture that happening more often on these stadium pools...

I actually enjoy the cantilevered pool areas. Makes for a great view for people watching on any level. And not nearly as boring as all the loungers laid out in a row.

I like them. Better views, doesn't seem as crowded with folks over several decks.

Interesting question Happy Camper. I'm undecided I guess, as I see pros and cons. Certainly more difficult to navigate, but more private than being all laid out in a huge line.

This is one thing that keeps us on the small ships - away from mega ships as we love to sit by the ocean and overlook the pool and really just don't like sitting at the pool... We'll have to try it again - I was sick with the flu on the Destiny cruise we took so we did not spend too much time (none) at the pool and instead found secluded spots to relax.. I must have gotten sick on the plane - I wasn't sick till the 2nd day out I started feeling bad and then went scuba diving twice in one day in 70 degree water - that didnt' help - I was frozen!! BUT it was the only night dive we have done and it was worth it!! Although my doctor chewed me out for almost busting my ear drum flying back so sick... Debbie

I liked it as I could see more and could find others easier as well a locate an open spot. I also liked it as people were not climbing all over you all the time.
