Silver Spirit - for Cruising Newbies?

Hi,
My wife and I are in our mid 40's. We have never been on a cruise. We're thinking about going for our 5 year anniversary. The Silver Spirit sounds incredible. We were specifically looking at a June sailing from Venice-Croatia-Athens. The price seems incredible in that includes airfare. For all you expereinced cruise lovers we had a few questions and very much appreciate honest responses. We love fine dining, good wine and top of the line accomodations. However, we are not into the formal type events. I would not want to wear tuxedo, etc... We just want to relax and do things at our own pace in a casual atmosphere. The pool, spa, some excurcions. Is this the right type of crusie for us? We had looked into the Windstar cruises and those seemed appealing for their casual type atmosphere. However, the prices are double when you consider the airfare from Wash DC. Veru much appreciate feedback.

Best Regards

Neilio

Silversea is certainly amongst the best of the best, with great accommodations, wonderful food, and it's all inclusive nature.

However, you may find a problem with the dress codes. When it's formal or even semi-formal, the passengers onboard do "put on the ritz". And as the Lido deck becomes a bistro in the evenings, if you don't want to dress your only option would be in suite dining. The food will be the same as what's served in the dining room, but not the ambience.

If you want to have all the luxury and all inclusiveness of Silversea but not have to get dressed up, look at Regent Seven Seas. All of their cruises (of less than 16 nights) are just casual; ok, elegant casual. Still, you can leave the jacket at home.

Their website is www.rssc.com

Thanks very much for the response. I did have a follow-up questions. From what I read there were quite a few restaurants on this new Silver Spirit ship. During the formal nights/events could we eat in one of the restaurants or is the entire ship and all restaurants formal on those nights?

Thanks

Neilio
