Hi everybody. I have never taken a cruise but want to, and soon! I have been looking at all the different cruises and, to say the least, am a bit overwhelmed. I am 43, single, and male. I am interested in a trip somewhere tropical, maybe the carribean, and want a trip where I stand the best chance of running into other singles in their 30's & 40's. Is there anyone who can recommend a good cruise (or one to avoid) so that my first trip won't be a disappointment? Thanks! David.
You are already doing the right thing. Research on these great cruise forums. I know there is a "Singles" cruise group being planned on this site. Check it out. There will be singles of all ages and activities which you can participate in if you like. They negotiate a favorable rate for you and often if you don't want a cabin mate, there is a lower if not waived single supplement. The Caribbean is a great way to start cruising on a 7 night voyage. Of course Carnival is known for welcoming its single crowd, but a Royal Caribbean cruise might not be a bad choice either. Pick a ship with some exciting ports of call and plan to book ship's tours. It will be easier to meet others. Also, put in a request on the "I want to cruise" forum specify that you wish a Singles cruise group if possible. Also try cruisecritic.com to see if they might have a group being organzed.
David, your best bet if you want to be onboard with other singles is to take an organized/escorted singles cruise. We've got one planned for Cruisemates March 3rd on Carnival's smoke-free Paradise, but we are thinking about postponing till early summer. E-mail me if you want more information
Hi David, there are some singles who post at CruiseCritic who are getting together in October 2002 for a singles cruise on Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas. We are all in your age. I'm the group leader. If you're interested in the details, please email me!
