Default Which cruise is best?

Hi,

I am a 30 y/o male and will be travelling with a group of about 4-5 other guys between 26-36.
Most of us are married. We hope to cruise in Aug. What is the best cruise to take? What we are interested in aside from the food, drinking, and hanging out, is the type of shore excursions. Are there any excursions that offer hiking, scuba, or some other active deals? We are into fitness and like challenges.

Hi Joe,

Depending on your level of "party-hearty", you and your friends might enjoy a Carnival cruise; however, if you're after something not quite so "loud," you could consider the ships of Royal Caribbean with rock climbing, etc.

It all depends on where you want to sail from and what ports interest you. For instance, they say the best snorkeling is in the Caymans (western caribbean), but then there is nice snorkeling off some of the eastern caribbean ports as well.

Give me some more information here on the message boards as to exactly what you are looking for, and I am sure some of our regular singles readers will have some suggestions. We're a friendly bunch!

What we want to do is find some good physical challenges. We will snorkel and try to find a place to scuba. However, we would like to find an excursion or a ship that will have some sort of competition, ie 5k,10k races. Is anyone familiar with the Hi-Tec adventure races? That is the type of stuff we are into. Although we look foward to physical challenges and plan to be active as soon as the sun rises, we still party till late at nigh or morning.

We have been looking at the Western Carribean.

Thanks

Joe,

Check out Princess's "Voyage of the Glaciers" cruises to Alaska. There are some pheonenally active excursions there -- sea kayaking, hiking, glacier expeditions, etc. You can view full descriptions of last year's excursion guidebook on line (http://www.princess.com/planner/shor...laska_2002.pdf), if it will help you to decide. Here are some of the options.

Ketchikan
>> George Inlet Mountain Bike Tour
>> Orca Beach Nature Walk
>> Back Country Jeep & Canoe Safari
>> Rain Forest Canoe Adventure
>> Pennock Island Kayaking
>> Tatoosh Islands Kayak Adventure
>> Guided Alaskan Fishing & Wilderness Trek
>> Mountain Pint Snorkeling Adventure
>> Neets Bay Bear Watch
>> Alaska Bear Adventure

Juneau
>> Guide's Choice Adventure Hike
>> Juneau Horseback and Glacier Tour
>> Glacier View Sea Kayaking
>> Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure
>> Helicopter Glacier Trek (Standard or Extended)
>> Glacier Panorama & Dog Sled Adventure

Skagway/Haines
>> Klondike Bicycle Tour
>> Dyea Bicycle Adventure
>> Horseback Riding Adventure
>> Yukon Jeep Adventure
>> Dog Sledding & Glacier Fightseeing Tour
>> Chilkoot Trail & Float Adventure
>> Glacier Point Wilderness Safari
>> Heli-Hike & Rail Adventure
>> Chilkat Rain Forest Nature Hike

If you and your buddies wish, you also can combine the cruise with a tour package that includes stays at one or more of Princess's wilderness lodges in Alaska, all of which offer additional opportunities for adventure.

Have a great cruise!

Norm.
