As a possible single cruiser in the future , I am concerned about the number of ships that are going 'all balcony'
While on my first cruise recently, on a ship with few balconies (the Caronia), we left port shortly after a ship which appeared to have a lot of balconies - while we were all sat around the pool, sipping cocktails, listening to the sailaway band, all the people on the other ship seemed to be on their individual balconies.
As a single I feel this could be rather lonely!
Have any singles travelled on such ships - what do you think ? Do you feel isolated because everyone else is hidden away, or do enough people want company to make such occasions, special occasions?
Karen, I don't think balconies are going to keep people from getting out and about on the ship. Balconies can be hot, and I never spend a lot of time out there, and I don't think many people will either, except for sailing in and out of ports. Singles will (or at least they should) get out and mingle and meet people. I don't think balconies are anything to worry about.
