Default Thanksgiving weekend versus New Year's weekend?

Hi there,

I am a 30 y/o SBF and I have never cruised before, nor have I ever vacationed by myself before. I heard Carnival was the cruise line to go with if you're single and since I'm planning on doing the loner thing - is this absolutely, certifiably correct???

Also, has anyone ever used singlescruise.com??? I checked out their website and looks like there's some good deals for Thanksgiving & New Year's. Can anyone tell me which is the best time to go in order for me to increase my "success rate" and just let loose & have a fabulously good time?

Thanks and I look fwd. to reading your helpful responses!

~ Mary :-)

Mary :

drop me a line (kytcurry@aol.com) will be happy to discuss your concerns. I'm 40, SBF and I've cruised single before. Carnival is the best bet for my money. They don't call it the "Fun Ships" for nothing!!!!

Hi Lillie,

Thanks for replying. Have you ever used singlescruise.com? I'm hoping to read responses from people who have used their services before (basically wondering if it's a bunch of old folks or if it's really diverse as they make is sound?)
Also, still curious about the Thanksgiving vs. New Years? Anyone have a cruising preference?

Thanks again!

~ M

I have used SinglesCruise.com twice already and embarking on their Halloween Cruise! I really enjoy this group tremendously and have made many friends on the Labor Day Cruise of 2003 and the Mardi Gras cruise of 2004!!!

Mary:
I have never booked a trip through that website, however, I do have a friend that went on a hiking tour of the Napa Valley and had a nice time. I am looking for a cabinmate to avoid the single's supplement over Thanksgiving on Princess for 15 days. Price for an obstructed outside cabin of $1,499 since I have sailed with the line before. I am quite a bit older than you (46) but I can help you "navigate" your way around a cruise. If you may be interested, email me.

Ann, thanks for the offer but I think I'll try the Carnival since it's so very popular. Singlescruise.com supposedly finds cabinmates for passenger's travelling alone so I think I'll give it a go.

Karon, glad to hear you've used their services before!! I was going to try for the Halloween but it seems as though their trips book pretty quickly. Thank you so much for the helpful info.!

Wish me luck and to all you single 29-38 y/o men cruising this Thanksgiving, Watch Out, Mary's coming!!!

;-)

Do not go on Thanksgiving. Tons of families and even more kids. There were hardly any singles. I still had fun, but I'm glad I had a friend with me.

Hi Vinny,

Carnival Victory? 8-firefighters? Gosh, I'm on the wrong cruise!!! I've already booked Carnival Imagination thru Singlescruise.com for the same date!!! Quick, you're a firefighter, SAVE ME!!!!

Well, I guess we won't be seeing each other but I do wish you a fabulous time. Keep me posted, I'd love to hear about your trip!

Hi Josh,

I've never did the alone vacation thing either so it'll be a new experience for us both. I just found out that the travel agency I booked my cruise thru (singlescruise.com) offers a chatroom for everyone going on the cruise to meet and get to know one another beforehand. I've been reading a lot of their comments and it seems like an interesting group so far. Some even got pics posted.

If you're definitely going, send me an email!

Hi Mary,

I've not booked my trip just yet..... I am waiting for my boss to approve my vacation plan tomorrow, it shouldn’t be any problem. I'll keep you post. It's cool that they have a chat room for people to get to know each other before hand..... Hope to see you in there soon.

Josh

I just booked nCL for the Western Caribbean Thanksgiving week and am flying solo. I took a bit of a leap of faith. Best case - I meet fun people to hang with. Worst case - I go on a lot of excurions anyway but chill out more at night! Doesn't sound so bad the way work is right now!

Hi Mary, Cris, Laura and everyone,

I just booked my Thanksgiving Cruise today. Looking forward to see everyone on board next month. It gonna be a blast. By the way, I'm from Detroit. I did book my plane ticket today as well. I couldn't get a direct flight, but I'm sure that I gonna make it there on time.

Take care for now and see you guys soon
