Carnival solo cruise from Galveston

Hello all - I just found out my cruise mate has backed out of the cruise planned for April 9th, 05 out of Galveston (5 nights) going to Cozumel. I have a couple of questions.
1.) When she cancels (if she cancels - she may just be a no-show) - how does that effect me with the money I'm out for the cruise????? Am I going to have to pay for her share of the cabin - if she cancels??
2.) I'm a little apprehensive about going solo - but the flip side is I've been looking forward to a cruise vacation for some time. Therefore, I'm looking at it as an adventure for myself. Any advice for this late 40's girl??????
Thanks all

I don't think it will affect you, I'd just tell them she was supposed to meet you and something happened.

I was on the cruise in Feb., they do have several singles gatherings, just read your Capers. The maitre'D probably already assigned you to a singles table as well but if he didn't, you can always ask to move to another table.

Have fun.

You may want to check with the cruise line. When I asked the same question of my TA
she told me that I would have to pay the single rate regardless of my cousin paying her share. Basically she looses her money(no insurence) and I pay double.

Bo.
