Don't know now a days if I would dare to do that. Being too trusting could mess your whole up life if anything were to happen. Remember your neighbors may not be able to protect you in case of an emergency. I would stick to the females unless you know him personally. It's better to be safe than sorry!

This is one of the reasons cruisers should look into getting a solo cabin if you have the money. Even though nothing happen something just as well could have and not to your liking. Two people have just been put out of their assigned cabin so two people can play together, what if they didn't get along and you and the guy got along great do you switch back? What if you wanted to have your roomie switch rooms with a guy? I bet she would say, NO. I wouldn't like anyone to "bully" me out of my cabin.

In the future, I wouldn't make this a habit.

I have been on CruiseMates almost a year and I have yet to read a post by a woman looking for a male room mate it's not going to happen. As for the male looking for a room mate there a plenty but I haven't read a post from that male saying "No more inquiries, the cabin room has been filled". The men who post them are mostly first time cruisers.

It can be bad enough to share a cabin with a stranger of the same sex. I can't imagine anything worse than sharing with the opposite sex. That is not to say that in my travels I haven't met a lot of people who have done so to save money and got along quite well. I suppose it's a matter of personal taste and how much privacy a person wants. I could never do it, but then I won't share a cabin with a stranger, anyway.

Sort of makes the purpose of the cruise moot. Sharing the room with another male is NOT an option. I'd rather stay home then do so. I guess my being an only child has a bit to do with that thought. Being painfully shy and bullied all my life has taken it's toll. Nonetheless, I'd rather be paired in a room with a member of the opposite sex. I'd much rather spend my time in finding a female to start a family with, then more "male bonding". Then again, at this rate, my family tree will be broken with my death. Oh well, perhaps I should just keep saving my money for a trip to the FSU (Former Soviet Union).

Whoa 46, I wouldn't go that far to look for women just pay the extra room on a cruise to get your privacy.

As I mention on this site many times it's worth the extra money to get a cabin by yourself. I love coming to my cabin and see all my belongings where they are and not having a possible confrontation with my cabin mate over petty things.

Though I am not an only child I have no interest to have any children to pass on my name. And at 46 that daddy window should be closing soon and you should enjoying life by taking a cruise.

Check CruiseMates or Google for a travel agent that specializes in single cruising and have fun.

I don't know of any singles travel agency that will match a male/female through their match program for liability reasons. But I have gone on a singles cruise with a male friend and we have shared a cabin. The singles agency had no problem with that because they had nothing to do with the roommate 'match'. It worked out fine on our singles cruise with he and I as roommates.

Hey #46 guy...... it looks to me like you would like to find a girlfriend. Why don't you join us on the Carnival Pride ship Oct.29th with vacationstogo.com Hosted Singles. I am sure you will find plenty of girls to meet.
You are still very young and guys are able to have kids at any age. Look at some of the old guys like Donald Trump. Don't give up yet until the fat lady sings and I don't hear her singing.

Just saw your post and thought I would reply to you. I have had 3 compatible cruisemayes on prior cruises. I live in Florida and the first was a lady from Miami who I met on a singles site, the second was a lady from the UK who I met on a Cruisemates site and the third was a lady I met on the Cruisemates site. They were all compatible, no hanky panky, just enjoyed the cruise and shared some of the cost. I'm going a Scandinavian Cruise 8/8/07-9/907 on the Star Princess and once again I'm seeking a lady cruisemate. I'm an active 68 year old retired Realtor presently working for a new home builder. Live in Florida. Should you be interested please reply. Your share would be $1,000. Includes trip insurance. Dble occupancy rate is $2200.

I am sorry but I don't cruise with strangers male or female. I have enough money to buy my own cabin to anywhere in the world. Plus, I get to choose what cruises I want to cruise on. I only like the 7day cruises presently.
I think you should choose a gal you already know because you will be compatiable for sure.
I am older now and I don't want to waste my time with a platonic guy. I am looking for a compatiable hottie guy near my age. But I plan to meet him first and date him before I invite him to cruise with me. I am not desperate in meeting a stranger guy anyway. Angel

I personally cruise alone or if I am involved with someone I would cruise with that person; may have to do one less cruise a year but I would prefer rooming alone.

I recently went on a land trip for a few days with a close friend. We would have the problem of I wanted the room cool and she wanted the room hot.
I would beg to watch a certain show on t.v. and she would want to see a movie I didn't want to see but we both had to compromise.

She got dressed early for going out for the evening.....and...... I was waiting for her to get out of the bathroom so I could finish dressing up and do my hair because I needed some water to style my hair. She was putting on her make-up in the bathroom.
When she came out she said, "I am ready to go out". I said, "I have to comb my hair". She got upset and said something. I said something back to her. Then she said, "we don't have to go out". I said, "I do want to go out but I just need to comb my hair". It was only 6:30P.M. and we had not set a time to go out.
The funniest part of my experience was when she told me she was going to use a suppository so she could have a BM. I got a picture in my mind of a stinky room so I told her I would wait for her in the lobby.
She kept saying that every night but she never used it. I would dread it when she would tell me about it. Then, I finnally told her not to tell me about her BM problems because only old people talk about their BM problems. I was laughing about it when I got home.
We are very close friends and still are friends. But it is hard to have a roomie even if you know her very well.
Another time.... I invited a lady from a group of friends to be my roomie and one night around 4a.m. she was making noise. I asked her, "what are you doing"? She said, "I am eating a pear so I can have a BM in the morning." I think she was just hungry.
Otherwise.... she was a great roomie.
Sometimes I get the urge to get a roomie but then I think about the roomies from hell so I book a cabin to myself.
I should include this info in the topic of "roomies from heck."

I cruise alone all the time well... I took two women with me on sepreate cruises and both ended up the two worst cruises Ive taken.
couldnt stand the complaining ...like
"I dont want to go to the Casino"
" I have to do my hair and make up I'll be ready in an hour"
"we have been sitting in the hot sun for over an hour"
"sex?.. Now.. It's only 11:00 am"
"sex? ..Now...someone may come up on the deck and see us "
"lets go shopping"
"it's 10:30 pm lets go to Bed"
" she's just going to braid my hair Ill be done in an hour"
"another beer? youve already had two today so far"
"No!! the shower is too small for both of us at once"
"i have to make the bed and clean up before the stewart comes"
"the topless deck is for perverts"
" I look Fat in That Bikini Ill wear this one piece with a cover up"
"Don't do that Here....I think theres cameras in the Elevators"
" I dont like the way the Girls were Looking at you when you were singing"
" I just want to Cuddle"
"Theres not enough room up there by the Port Holes to do that"
" stop using the mouthwash right from the bottle"

The list can go On and On.... Going on my 6th cruise January 25th and going alone... Booked another one for October 13th of 2007 on the Liberty By myself as well.

There is no words to describe the freedom of Cruiseing alone!!!
there are plenty of singles on board to play with and dance with then go back to being alone doing what you want to do when you want to do it...this past October on the Sensation (4 night)I just didnt feel like getting off the ship at either port so I didnt It was my choice and I had a great cruise just hanging around the ship for the whole cruise...you can do whatever you want !!!! It's a wonderful Life...lol
Do a four day cause the quick three days is just one day too short. youll just be getting used to it and then it's over...the extra 4th night is just enough, Im doing my first 8 day in Oct ...Just hope i have enough Casino money to hold out that long....
Try it alone you'll love it
