Default Tipping on a singles cruise

I recently went on an organized singles cruise. Is it customary or proper to tip the host or hostess on a singles cruise? I just came back from one and I did buy her a nice card and put a few dollars in it for organizing the activities and such. I don't know if I was the only one in the group that did this or not. Could someone give me some advice on this matter.

Angelgal, you are correct. The Carnival cruiseline takes out $10 a day on tips for everything, if you feel like adding more go for it, but it's not mandatory.
