Everyone needs to write into NCL to get their policy changed. All of us cruisers that go solo are used to being charged 200% for the base fare for the cruise but NCL is now charging 200% for NCF.
A little breakdown of cruise prices for those of you who may not know. Cruise prices have 3 different components. The base fare, NCF (non-commissionable fare or sometimes referred to as port charges), and government taxes.
All cruise lines charge double the base fare for solos sailing alone. However, NCL recently starting charging double NCF and is currently the only cruise line doing this. We singles cruisers need to nip this in the bud before other cruise lines following suit, especially since this can add another $100 - $300 to the cost of the cruise!!!
So give NCL a call, send them an email, snail mail, whatever. Let's help keep solo cruise pricing down!
I think the NCL Managers are a bunch of lousy managers. You never know what they are going to do next. They approved the NCL Dawn to go near the eye of a hurricane last year on April 12th.... where a rough wave hit the 7th deck balconies and ruinned the cruise for many cruisers. The managers were in a hurry to get back to New York just like the Titanic was on April many years ago. NCL is facing a lawsuit because they could have avoided the problem because they knew of the hurricane and still told the captain to proceed. They didn't care about the passengers.
Plus, they don't allow the VTG Singles groups to cruise on their ships. So we singles miss out on cruising out of Hawaii on their ships as a vtg group.
You never know what NCL is going to do next. They are not a reliable company and I know of some travel agents who don't like NCL. They avoid booking passengers on NCL.
Good luck on getting them to listen to us cruisers.
