I will be on this cruise but to past the time away plan on what excursions you want to go on, decide if you are planning on attending the pre-cruise party on the Queen Mary and start saving money that you will spend on the trip.

I already planned what shore excursions I am doing, I will staying on the Queen Mary the night before the cruise, so I guess I will be attending the pre-cruise party if my flight isn't delayed too badly, and as far as saving money, I am a lost cause!
So what else does that leave me to do????

Here is a tip for saving money.

Tip 1: If you plan on taking a shuttle to the Long Beach port either one way or round trip go to Carnival site and pre-pay.

Tip 2: Start putting a way $100 bucks and convert it to traveller's checks if you can add more . . . do it until mid October. Hopefully you can accumulate over $600.

Tip 3: Talk with the VTG travel agent and ask to have the tips prepaid

Tip 4: When you choose an excursion at a port stick with it otherwise it can be sold out when the cruise starts.

PS. There will be other theme parties during the week leading up to the Halloween party on Friday so be open to bringing more costumes.

What else to do besides sending my formal outfit to the cleaners and packing.

Shore excursions are paid for: Extreme Canopy, Sport Fishing and America's Cup sailing.

Shuttles Paid for, On-board account padded. Halloween Costume purshased.

The only thing not paid in advance is my reservation on the Queen Mary.

I have my costume....am going as a 'native' from where I currently live, .
My stay aboard the Queen Mary is already paid for, and the tips are added to the onboard account (have already figured that in to my trip costs).
The excursions I am doing are not through Carnival, so I am saving a ton of $$$ already; 75 minute massage at the Krystal 40$, Stone Island on my own (roughly 30$), Snorkeling in Cabo 64$. I might do the Dolphin Swim in PV, and doing it on my own cost is 99$ versus 139$.
Dang, I plan and shop things in advance way too much! . but my motto is, "better to be prepared." As for the figure of saving 600$ by the time we sail, I have no intention of spending even close to that on my S&S account; guess I am just cheap.
Told ya, I have nothing else to plan for, except my next cruise in December now :-D

Question for you folks on this cruise.....on Carnival, does it still show your booking is on hold? I made final payment on Wednesday, and it still shows that message when I log in to Carnival's web site.

I have not made the excursion yet, I am wait on Vacations to Go to give me an schedule so I can have some options.

As for Carnival they still haven't given me my cabin information.

I also recommend everyone at least look into travel insurance.

My documents still show a hold also and i had everything paid in full in January. Air, Insurance, transfers.

I was thinking of doing the native thing also but decided against it as the buffalo hide would costs a fortune to check on the airplane

I have been to the VTG website and both Halloween cruises are about to close because of limited blocks that the cruise lines have given them. Which means they are about to be SOLD OUT or VTG has to release the rooms back to the cruise lines.

In short, if you want to partake in the VTG private parties and are on the fence do it soon.

Another Tip: If you haven't done so, ask the VTG travel agent to if you can prepay for the tip which on a 7 day cruise is $70.
