looking to cruise on carnival splender solo. anyone ever stay in a cat.1a? they seem to be near stairs, and elevators and also have bunk beds. are they any good? thanks
Hey Kevin,
I did a 1A solo two different times and it was great. They don't fold down the top bunk so you have a room with a single bed. Plenty of space for 1.....Mark
By all means do a 1A. I went on a Singlescruise last Dec. on the Carnival Freedom. It had a single bed and a sofa that could be converted to a bed if needed. I was in cabin 1211. The walk was a little long and in bow section, but the price was worth it. I sailed for about 750.00 when other cabins were going for more. And yes, they did have mini- fridges in them also. Had 2 portholes and cabin was just as big as a standard outside one. If you book thru Singlescruise, ask for a 1A as they don't advertise them. They usually get a few each cruise and if you want to stay solo, it will save you money over the single supplement for an inside cabin. More money to play with!!!!!!

Here is a video I found on Youtube. The lady is on the Carnival Escatasy and in a cat 1A. I thought it was quite a good video. She goes into depth about whats in the cabin and shows the cabin very well
Well I tried to embed it but I am stupid, so here is the link.
I just sailed on Splendor 4-day cruise with one other person in a cat 1A. (was also on the transatlantic but in a different cabin). The cat 1A had its good points and bad points. It was a little inconvenient with the bunk bed. I think this particular cabin was for handicap also, because the bathroom was huge, and very nice. The room was also big, and there was a refrigerator, and it was on deck 10 which was very convenient. It would be perfect for 1 person or for 2 if you don't mind climbing up on the bunk and having limited head space when trying to sit in bed. The price was great too!
