Hi Everybody!!! I just booked two cruises for the new Carnival Splendor ship. I booked Halloween Oct. 25th, single suppliment for only $595. for a Cat.1-A. cruising to Mex-Riviera. I get to have my own cabin to myself without a roomie. Yeah!!
Then I booked the Splendor for Dec. 6th for $575. single suppliment for Cat. 1-A. to Mex-Riviera.
The ship has 3,000 cabins and right now is the best time to book the Catagory 1-A's before they sell out.
I was able to choose the location of my cabin which was located mid-ship on the upper decks of the Empress and Verandah. The cabins are the same size as the cat.4-A cabins. It has a twin size bed and the other bed is located on the ceiling. The cabin doesn't have the old fashioned bunk beds anymore on the new ships.
I live near the Long Beach port so I will not have to fly. I have decided that I prefer to stay in the west coast as much as possible for cruising.
It is always nice cruising on a new ship. They say the Splendor is super PINK color and maybe tacky looking like a Las Vegas hotel. So what?
I will be cruising ON THE CHEAP. YEAH!!! Lucy Ramirez
P.S. HI BOB!! It's me.... Angelgal/Lucy
I had to create a new user name since I was having trouble trying to get in under my old user name.
I have been cruising a lot and will be a VIP with Carnival after one more cruise. That means I get my clothes washed for free. Yeah!! Lucy
Hey Lucy, welcome back. I received your PM but will get back to you shortly. Getting ready for my cruise on Feb 15th aboard the Crown Princess so I have been super busy. Glad to hear from you. Bob
I was reading the post, too cool.
I am hear in Carlsbad, just got off the Crown last month, totally cool ship.
Lucy, your right about the single cabin, I had back to back Ruby and Crown, totally Wonderful.
The Laundry service would be nice, I am working on Princess Captains Circle at the momet, they are issuing two credits for each single supplement for 2009, is Carnaval doing the same?
That's awesome you can email me from your next cruise! I wish Carnival had that I'd rather have the free internet then clothing wash, I think. I still have a lot of cruises to go before I get VIP. I really have 4 cruises with Carnival but they only give me credit for 3 my first way back in 87 was on the Mardi Gras, they didn't have the program then. I even brought a photo dated by ships photographer to prove to them I was on it, the front desk got a kick out of my 80's photo and they were all laughing about it, but said the policy wasn't in place then bummer.

Hi PJ, I guess you are a VIP now for your next cruise. You get to have your clothes washed. YEAH!!!
The month of May is more expensive because some kids are out of school in May so the rates are higher on prime time.
Halloween cruises are so festive and I always want to look at the people with all of their costumes on. LucyR.
Lucy,
I wanted to book mid year and late year. I called Carnival yesterday to check on rates, in Oct and long wait so I hung up. I looked online, and looks like there aren't anymore Cat !A's left. Dec will be a 9 night cruise. Looking forward to that one.
PJ

I WAS ON THE SPLENDOR A FEW WEEK AGO. I HAD A CAT 1A ON THE EMPRESS DECK. IT WAS GREAT, A NICE MIDSHIP LOCATION. AND I ALSO GOT A GOOD RATE. DID NOT LIKE THE SHIP MUCH. NICE AND NEW BUT DIFFERENT LAYOUT THAN MOST. ALSO VERY QUIET AND LOW KEY CROWD.
Hi Kevin, I think all of the cruise ships have low key crowds on Jan. and Feb. due to the fact that mostly seniors and married couples cruise on those months. Those are quiet times for all cruiselines.
The Splendor will be jumping on Halloween with crowds of fun cruisers.
I am happy to hear that the layout of the ship is different because I am tired of the old layout of their ships. They all look alike and I forget what ship I was on.
The Splendor will be peaceful for the Dec. 6th date that I plan to cruise date. It is the most cheap time to cruise because most people are busy shopping for Christmas gifts.
I am a BAH HUM BUG....personality so I will enjoy being pampered by the cruise ship personnel on my low key cruise in the month of Dec.
Christmas week and New Years week is very expensive to cruise so I choose the cheapy cruises before Christmas. Lucy
nice to hear from you again lucy. i hope you enjoy the splendor. the crew was very happy to be going to LA. it was a great crew on the splendor. my next is rccl adventure of the seas in oct.
Hi Kevin, I am happy to see that you are really cruising a lot.
It is always nice to plan ahead so we don't get depressed. I used to get depressed when I couldn't cruise often because I was working.
NOW I can cruise all I want. Lucy
Hi Bill, You are a VIP on Carnival and can get your clothes washed.
What else do you get that you like from being a VIP? Do you get free internet?
One more Carnival cruise and I become a VIP. Your friend, Lucy
HEY Lucy,
No internet which would be nice but the best thing I like is the VIP check in at the port, that can be great if lines are long. You also get VIP debarkation and priority tender boarding status, not as big a deal to me though. Internet would be great though.
Hi Bill, I love cruising to the Canada/New England ports.
I cruised out of N.Y. twice already. One per year in Sept. I would love to go again this coming Sept.

When are you cruising there? Lucy
I don't think I'll be doing that one as I tend to do the Caribbean routes. Did the New York to Canada / New England and it got cloudy and it was too cold and damp for me.
I am booked on the Splendor on 05/10/09. More likely than not, Carnival will be cancelling all Mexico ports, the same as they did for the 05/03 sail date, a result of the swine flu.
They will confirm things this week. If they make this change, I will cancel and book the Halloween cruise. I think I'll have more fun on this date.
I'll post again when I hear further from Carnival
PJ
