I had a great time. I was seated with two really nice married couples who were fun to talk with and we became great friends and plan to stay in touch.
I have cruised to ALASKA four times and it has really changed. The old original local stores have shut down and have been replaced with lots of jewelry stores and things made in China. They call it Alaskan made but I can tell they were bought in volumes from China.
It was 80 degrees hot, hot, hot. Unbelieveable but true. People were having fun swimming on the ship's pool day and night.
I met lots of really nice people to talk with and hang out with.
The Princess cruise ships are not like the Carnival Fun Ships. The Star Princess was nice but not exciting with activities to attend. The activities were planned like at breakfast or lunch or dinner time which made it hard for me to attend the activities.
The Dance bands sounded good but it was hard to dance to the beat since the band was off beat. Hard to explain. Simon from American Idol would have said that the singers really couldn't sing.
I had a nice cabin with a Window to look out at the sea.
I had fun playing at the Casino at the penny machine. I only played $5.
I don't want to become addicted. I am already a cruise addict and I like that better.lol.
FOOD: It was mostly good and interesting. I would try new dishes just to see what they were like.
They have a cutsy new Coffee shoppe that also has free pastries and sandwiches. At times they would serve free hot coco with cookies.
I ate all day long. I would take food back to my cabin in the afternoons and watch movies. I saw "MALL COP" which is a cute movie to watch.
I loved the Lido Buffet because it was alway opened and I love to eat snacks when I feel like it. They always had cold shrimp available and one night they had cold crab legs.
For those of you going to Alaska... there are many local Alaskan people selling tickets to take you on a tour in each port. Very cheap. One tour was selling for only $7.00 to go see a glacier.
This cruise review is just about me traveling as a single person and not really about the ship. It is just about my personal experience as a single cruiser. LucyR.
