Default How easy is it to make friends on a cruise ship?

Hello everyone,

I am a 27 year old single guy going to Bahamas in 2 days (Oct 17th) with the Norwegian Sky. I'm going solo and it's going to be my first cruise ever. I am very excited, but at the same time, I am a little worried about going solo. How easy is it for singles and especially for a first timer like me to make friends on a cruise ship? How do you usually meet people on a ship? Thanks in advance.

It's very easy. All you have to do is be friendly and go to all the activities that you can.
Be happy and enjoy your cruise.

I was single on my first two cruises, and it was super easy to meet people! Most cruises have special activities just for singles. I have fond memories of those cruises and all the fun people I met!

I find it is actually harder as a couple to meet other couples. My husband is 26 and I am 25, so most couples on cruises are much older. Have a great cruise, and let loose!

Thank you so much . I am a very friendly person but also a little shy. Like you guys suggested, I'll participate in all the activities I can. On the ship, there are all kinds of entertainment options, but I was asking myself "what do I do all alone on the shore?" Just can't wait...

My first solo, I kind of stayed in the sidelines. My second, I was determined not to have that happen again. By the pool, share a table, start chatting. I met a cruise share person that way, we've done 1, and have 2 lined up. I was surprised how many don't have friends or family that can't cruise financially, jobs etc. My solos are shorter ones, now able to do longer ones with a share. Not always the best option to share, I got to like going solo with no strings, yet it's nice to have a meal connection, etc.

Welcome to the board. You won't have any problems meeting people. There are plenty of things to do and you will have fun. Enjoy.

I have taken many cruises most were escorted singles cruises booked through a singles cruise company. I've also gone solo with a girlfriend of mine and we only met other single ladies not men, other then that we met all couples and family's. It's easier for a man, but you will still have a lot more to choose from then on a normal cruise if your looking for potential romance.
