Default Book in singles group???

Hello...I have never been on a cruise and I'm looking to go onto the Carnival Freedom on march 17th. I will be getting my own room no matter what but noticed they have a single thing in my age bracket. Is it worth the extra $400 to be in the singles group or just go on the cruise by myself as is??? I'm a male 37 with a great personality and will do the docks/stops by myself. Just curious if anyone can give me advice since this is my first. I have traveled alone before so not worried about meeting people.

Thank you
