Will be on Sun's 1/25 sailing to Panama....first stop Cartagena next Monday 1/28....Does anyone know if transportation (bus) is available from the
dock to the town center???? We did not select a tour at this stop since we just wanted to stay local and perhaps do a bit of shopping..
....
PLS ADVISE & THANKS IN ADVANCE
Last year on Princess they stated that Catagena was to dangerous and we stopped some where else. I DON'T THINK ANY ONE STOPS THERE!! THEY HAVE LAST MINUTE CAHANGES. SORRY!!
Interesting...we stopped there two years ago and we had been to Cartegena years ago for a week and a few other times as a port.. Stopping in Cartegena for me is a highlight...The Old City, Fort and the Dungeons...favorite places..
I definately would not go on my own in Cartagena. Pick a tour that includes some time to shop in the Old Town area. We had one that included the Old Town, the fort and an old abbey with a great view of the city. We felt much safer with a group in this town.
We have been on about 8 cruises and this is a port where I would take a ship's shore excursion or stay aboard the ship. Our cruise director told us that on the previous cruise, two taxi drivers had a fight over someone from the ship going into town to conduct ship's business. We had people stick their hand in the window of the bus selling things at the stop lights. People were waiting for us at each stop to sell things. There was even one man who had a sloth and he put it on people's shoulders and wanted to take pictures of them. This was without their permission. Sloths have sharp claws and it didn't look safe. We were there about 11 years ago on the old cruise line Dolphin. I was very happy to get back to the ship!
