Honolulu Hotels for Pre-Cruise

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in a good location (preferably right on the beach) for pre-cruise stay in Honolulu? Any comments on Outrigger On the Beach which is one that RCCL promotes for pre-cruise stays. Price quoted is $179.00 per night. Thanks.

Hilton Hawaiian Village is awesome. A wonderful property.. but a bit pricey. But, I'd bet you wouldn't regret spending the $.

The Kahala Mandarin Oriental is a paradise in itself. It's away from Waikiki, in a much quieter setting. Free shuttles will take you into Waikiki throughout the day and evening. Everything was fabulous and I'd go back in a minute. However, I'm interested in hearing feedback from others for our next trip to Hawaii.

We liked the Hyatt very much -- right in the heart of Waikiki. Would have loved the Kahala Mandarin but it was pricier.

We booked the Hyatt Regency through Celebrity and found it to be very nice. Right across from the beach on Waikiki. Would stay there again.

Wehave a time share with Hilton in Orlando and was able to purchase a one bedroom unit in Honolulu for 3 days prior to our cruise in April at $85 a night. We were on the 16th floor with a balcony looking out to the beach. The village is beautiful and the shops and restaurants are all top quality. They even have an enclosure with tropical penguins where they have a public feeding of them and turtles each morning. The grounds are so beautiful that you don't even have to leave the premises. We are going back again this November for 4 days after a cruise on the Vision from Ensenada. Surprisingly, the beach in April was relatively empty. One of their towers is called the "rainbow " tower and we had our buffet breakfast at dawn each morning in the open restaurant looking out to the beach with all their beautiful landscaping. If you don't stay there, its worth the time to walk through their area. They have their own dock where the launch to the submarine departs. Can't wait to return...

Try Travelhero.com or the hotelreservationnetwork.com... you can get the Outrigger reef for a better deal on your own. We are staying at the Hilton Turtle Bay an hour or more by car on the north shore to get away from Honolulu. I am paying about 125 per night plus 12% taxes. It is an old hotel on the beach, but currently undergoing rennovation. We are on the RCI Radiance Oct 14-26,
