Has anyone had experience with snorkelling in Kauai? I'm hoping to get suggestions on the best & safest sites in Kauai. Would even like suggestions on your experience with a pre-arranged snorkel tour.
we prefer snorkeling in maui. the kapalua area is our very favorite. we found a few spots in kauai but the water is much cooler. when are you cruising to hawaii? we are doing a back to back on the vision in sept-oct.
Thanks for your thoughts. We're cruising on the Radience of the Seas end of April. Approx. 2 weeks from today. First time in Hawaii, so wanted to see a few islands then we cruse back to Vancouver.
I have always enjoyed snorkeling at Poipu Beach Park when in Kauai. It is relatively shallow, but lots of fish, and easy access from a sandy beach with restrooms. You can also eat at Brennecke's at the Beach which is right across the street (dinner or lunch). You will want to stick to the south shore as the north shore is more rough. It is easy to get to from Nawilili port if you rent a car. I recommend this as the best way to see the most on the Islands. Plan to see Waimea canyon in the morning, stop at Poipu for lunch and a swim, then drive to Princeville/Hanalai area for the afternoon. You will see a lot of beautiful country...I love Kauai much more than Maui.
