Has anyone taken a cruise that included a stop at Easter Island? I'm looking for a ship that might be able to undertake a solar eclipse cruise in April 2005 near Easter Island. There are virtually no ports of call in that part of the ocean, but a ship that visits EI might be able to work the eclipse into its itinerary. Royal Olympia's Voyager is the only candidate I've found so far. It goes there just once a season on its 27-day South Pacific Adventure cruise from Chile to Tahiti.
Sorry to reply to my own question, but for the benefit of anyone else who might be interested, I did find a cruise ship that is scheduled to rendezvous with the 2005 eclipse. Society Expedition's World Discoverer will include Easter Island, Pitcairn and Gambier Islands, Bora Bora and Tahiti on a 25-day cruise. Now I have to see what I can find out about this small (150-passenger) sized expedition ship.
Sorry about the necromancy and replying to my own topic again, but there was a change of plans since my last post. The World Discoverer cruise was cancelled last year. Instead, I'm sailing on the MV Discovery South Pacific Eclipse cruise. It has an abbreviated itinerary - Tahiti, Pitcairn, Easter Island and Peru - but it does include the solar eclipse! Just wondering if anyone else might be planning to go?
