luaus on oahu

I am going to be on the Pride of Aloha July 4th through 11th. I am staying a couple of extra days in Oahu. Has anybody ever done the Polynesian Cultural Center luau or the Royal Hawaiian Luau? Which one is better? If you have any suggestions, let me know. Thank you.

The Cultural Center is so much more than just a Luau. To go there and just do their Luau would be a waste. Plan a whole day. Come across the island and stop at Dole plantation and drive the north shore past all the famous surfing beaches in the morning. Get to the cultural center at noon when it opens. Book an Ambassador package and pick the Luau as your dining option. For the first 5 hours you will get a small group escorted tour of the center and it's "countries" . You will see all the major exhibitions and shows. You will get a shell lei, a video . Then on to the luau. Flower Lays, Food and drinks (no alcohol here ), music and entertainment. After dinner you go to the outdoor (covered ) theatrefor the spectacular Polynesian show. Your package gets you special drinks and desserts. All over at about 10 pm. Drive back to Honolulu via the east coast road for a change of pace. Book on line in advance and you will end up with first or second row dead center seats for the evening show.
This will end up being the best day of your vacation.

Very interesting. We are going to stay over just one extra night in Hawaii & thought we'd do a daytime tour as we disembark. & be dropped at our hotel or taxi back to the hotel if dropped at the airport. Looking for a nightitme Luau. that we could pre-book for our very last vacation night. What about the other one mentioned above???

Personally I would go to Germaine's, that is the one we bring anyone to that comes and to visit. Of course, everyone's perspectives on what is the best are different

Thanks for your response. We are going to do the Polynesian Cultural Center.
You talked me into it. It sounds like a lot of fun and we are staying very close at the Turtle Bay Resort so it won't be much of a drive. Aloha!!

www.germainesluau.com/

There is a link to Germaine's. You get 3 drink tickets with the price, also, IF you go to the gift shop and buy the Germaine's glass you can use it for your drinks (mai tai's, blue hawaii's, etc) it's about 2 1/2 times the size of the plastic glass they otherwise use. You can watch them take the pig out of the pit it was cooked all day in and then onto the entertainment.

We just returned from our Hawaii trip and visit to Polynesian Cultural Center. Thanks for the referral. We had a fabulous time there. We were impressed with the show and
the talent those young people had. The food at the luau was great and we could not
believe how quickly they fed so many people. They were very organized. Thanks again.
