Default Any other chickens out there

Help. My husband wanted to go on a cruise. Ok so I agreed thinking a short and sweet one wuold be great...but he suprised me and booked a 12 day cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii.

Yikes!!! the idea of 5 days at sea makes me more than a little crazy. What can I expect? Its is set to sail on 9/17. Will it be rough out in the middle of nowhere? Is there a lot to keep busy for all that time? Any suggestions...OH and as far as seasick, I dont even take asprin so the patch or motion sickness are out...How do those elastic bands work? Help we sail soon!

No guarantees on weather, but most ships will give you as smooth a ride as possible. Are you subjct to getting carsick? If yes you are likely to experience some motion/seasickness, if no, then sea motion is not likely to bother you. My daughter swears by Seabands (elastic wrist bracelets) for my two granchildren who tend to get carsick.
Most cruisers love the days at sea. Sleep 'til whenever, leisurely meals, lazy days around the pool, plenty of shipboard activities provided by entertainment staff, bingo, art auctions, casinos, trivia, games at the pool, spas, gyms, (golf depending on ship), cards , internet, library, movies, dance lessons, tours, cooking lessons, wine tastings,
sunbathing, just to touch on a few things to do(or not do).
Relax, enjoy, unwind.

I really think you will have a ball. My wife and I love the days at see so much we wouldn't care if we didn't stop at all. As PapaBill said, there is plenty to do at sea, but we usually spend the days around the pool. I usually take along a couple of books and just sit in the sun and read. My wife loves to play bingo, and she is a world class shopper, so she spends a lot of time just looking in the shops on board. We usually go to dinner early, like about 5:30, then go to the first show in the theater. After that, they usually have some type of game show, or good music in some of the lounges. The only time I have been sea sick, is on a smaller fishing boat, deep sea fishing in Mexico. The cruise ships are usually very smooth and you will probably forget you are moving in the middle of the ocean. Enjoy it. I predict you will be hooked after about the third day.

My wife is very prone to carsickness but has NEVER been seasick on a cruise ship. These newer ships and the stabilizers they use are amazing. We even try to book aft cabins and she still has not had any problems.

Regarding Hawaii, we did that last year and rebooked it this year since it was such a nice (and affordable) itinerary. I suggest trying to take advantage of the sea days being lumped together and if something is crowded, do something else. The last half will be busy with all the sightseeing so leave time to unwind when you get home (if possible).
