Cell Phones
Do Cell phones work when close to the Islands ?
Any particular service provider better coverage than others ?

Re: Cell Phones
I would contact your cell phone company as I am going to do. I need to stay in touch a couple days while we are docked.

I have Nextel and coverage in the continental US is very wide but I did not check out the Hawaii coverage.

I'd give your company a call.

Re: Cell Phones
I called Nextel today and they said they have coverage all over the islands.

Re: Cell Phones
My wife uses Verizon, and it worked fine, although it took a few minutes to find a signal. It probably won't work too far from shore, but we used it when docked

Re: Cell Phones
We just got off the "Radiance" and cell phone use was rampant while we were onboard!

Re: Cell Phones
Wife used her Sprint of the Big Island, Maui, Kaui and Oahu with no trouble in normal mode while on a recent Carnival Spirit Ensenada to Honolulu repositioning cruise.

She has also used her Sprint cell phone in normal mode in Juneau, Alasaka, Pureto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
