Default Hawaii Superferry

The Hawaii Superferry was just issued a temporary restraining order and can not use state-owned land to dock. The judge ordered this because the ferry has begun business and routes without an Environmental Impact Report.

The Superferries argument is that the cruise lines have yet to do one, so why should they? Well this is true to some extent.

What do you think this will do to the cruise lines running in Hawaii? If it is required, will cruiselines follow with closures and postponements?

My reference was the Hawaii Superferry Forum.

Saw that in the papers when in Maui this weekend. Cruiselines may need to do EIRs soon? Seems some are now being required to plug into the grid when docked in various places to reduce emissions...

This is kind of like shutting the barn door after the horse gets out. My uncle lives in Oahu and was planning to use the ferry [dislikes flying] next month to come to Lahaina for our wedding. With the suspension it isn't likely to be said and done until after the wedding. Fortunately the cruise goes to Oahu so we can see him there. The principal is good as far as transportation but it seems that the people of Hawaii will make this very difficult. Whoever owns the superferry should have made dang sure it could travel when it was completed, now they are hanging in the wind, and the lawyers are having a catfight. It's just Crazy
