HAWAII CRUISE - 25th Wedding Anniversary for April 2016
Hello everyone! I'm knew to these forums ... but not new to cruising ... we've cruised six different times .... all with Carnival except our very first cruise with Celebrity. Anyway, in April 2016 we will be married for 25 years and we went to Hawaii on our honeymoon and haven't been back so I thought what would be better than a HAWAIIN CRUISE ?! :) My plan is to have our children go with us so we'll need two rooms, and they will be 17 and 19 at the time. (WOW how time flys ... they've been cruising with us since they've been babies ... :(
Anyway, I'm hoping to get some awesome advice as we've never done a Hawaii cruise and I have a few questions and I'm sure all you helpful fellow cruisers will assure that I will get the best things for our family !!!
To start with - CARNIVAL is only open for booking on the Hawaiin cruise through January 2015 .... and we are looking for APRIL 2016 ... (so I have 2 years to plan!).
Currently they use the MIRACLE ship to cruise there and back from California and first things first - how do I know THE SECOND the booking will open because of course I'm going after the 'aft' balcony suites .... if we are gonna be at sea for 4 days there and back I want some awesome views ... that being said here we go:
1) How do I find out the absolute second the booking opens ?
2) Does anyone have any opinions on the aft portside cabins:
5266 (Upper Deck)
6260 (Empress Deck)
7298 (Verandah Deck)
8268 (Panarama Deck)
By opinions I mean ... best wrap balcony - I know some don't have as much as a wrap as others ... can't remember which is best ya know ?
Anyway those are the two main issues right now ... please feel free to give any advice I certainly welcome everything and thank you all in advance!

Booking for Carnival to Hawaii is approximately 12 months ahead of time, so you'll be waiting for a while to book it.
But use an agent and let them take care of it for you instead of you hassling with it. That's their job and it costs you nothing for their services. Plus, if you have any problems, they represent your best interest. If you book it with the cruise line and have problems, who do you thing they'll represent?
Also, since this is such a big occasion, why not consider something nicer than the Miracle? There are definitely some better ones making the trip. Having been on the Miracle, personally I wouldn't want to spend more than a week on it - just not that big and not alot of amenities.
While it would cost more, you could also think about doing the 7-night cruise on the Pride of America. If you really want to see the islands, you can't beat their itinerary. We did this along with a week before in Oahu and a week after in Maui. Awesome romantic adventure. But then we were taking the kids.
Talk to you agent, preferably one who is a cruise specialist, has been there done that, and can offer some options and ideas for you to make this a wonderful anniversary.
You’ll have to hold on to book because it only goes about one year in advance. I would definitely use an agent because you have some specific questions and they will be able to give you advice – while one person may say that a particular cabin is better than another, it takes someone with an overview of the whole ship to really help you out. In my opinion, the Miracle is a great ship and you’ll enjoy a spectacular anniversary vacation. Have fun!
I too would consider a more upscale cruise line which may even cost you less. Look up Vacationstogo.com under Hawaii/dates. Surprisingly, a bunch are out. Check out the Princess 15N RTs out of CA which will not need costly air. Ruby an excellent ship. Celebrity has both Solstice and Millie going. I am on Solstice relo from Vancouver to Honolulu this Fall, more port days, only one flight back.
Congratulations for your 25th of wedding anniversary.
