Default Sun dresses

I've been looking around shops lately looking for some ideas for my Carribbean cruise. I'm seeing a lot of pretty sun dresses. Light fabrics, flowery patterns, and very little material covering the shoulders and arms (if any). Are these dresses suitable for dinner on a cruise ship? Do you need to be more dressed?
Also, I've been reading about how cold the A/C is on board. Is a shawl enough to keep warm or will I need a jacket or sweater.

papermouse - sundress are perfect for casual nights while on board, that and sheath dresses are all i pack for casual evening wear. Its a good idea to have a lightweight cardigan sweater to throw over your shoulders during dinner as the dining rooms can be chilly.
pair your sundress up with a cute pair of sandals, slides or kitten heels and you are all set.

What you are describing, in a dressy fabric, becomes a cute cocktail dress. too...ala Audrey Hepburn...For casual nights, they are made to order...If your cruise is after the summer sales, you can clean up for your cruise!

I bought a sundress in New Orleans that is this lovely flowing fabric and it was also reversable so two dresses in one.

Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.

Definitely pack a shawl or two! I take a black and a white with me.
I use the black for formal night [it is beaded] and the white goes with just about all the casual sundresses.

The AC always makes me cold!
