Default Perfume

Have we discussed scents here? I am woefully lax about wearing fragrances. I like the old ones, not having been current with some of the more recent entries. I prefer body lotions over liquid perfumes, and I think lotions are easier to travel with, too. I am also very aware that a lot of people have allergies.

I like florals and have "Pleasures" by Estee Lauder. I used to wear "Sung" by Alfred Sung and also "Calandre" by Pacco Rabbanne. And I adored Norell! Don't even know if these last few exist any more.

Now that you can see how dated I am, what are your favorites? Will you bring on your next cruise?

Hi, my name is Trip, and I am a perfume-aholic.....
I wear cologne every time I walk out the door, and I am always on the hunt for new ones. I love citrus scents, and I really don't do lotion. Certain scents, send me right back to where I bought them..Years ago in St Thomas, I bought Fantasme, by Ted Lapidus, as soon, as I wiff it, I am back in the Caribbean. Rarely do I re-buy a scent, this one I have. Last cruise I got, Calvin Kleins new Euphoria, and DKY Be Delicious, and Dior, My Cherie, another one I will re-buy..These 2, forme are that Great

There used to be a cologne called New West...a summer cologne, that was the best ever...watermelon, and fruity, it was very popular, and then discontinued... It's all over Ebay, and not cheap either, although I did find a reasonable price for a small bottle..My head said, don't buy it, my heart said buy it..and of course as I thought, it was rancid;( So I learned a lesson, but I did get a refund....

I should have included Calvin Klein's "Eternity." You're an inspiration, Trip. Maybe I'll go out and do some updating!

Over the years, I have migrated away from regular perfumes and colognes and gone to the "body splash" fragrances from Bath and Body shops. I love, love, love the Brown Sugar Vanilla and the Coconut Lime Verbena - it just SMELLS like the tropics and makes me want to cruise!

Those are two of my favorite Bath and Body Works scents too! Also love Sweet Pea. Right now I have really been enjoying Hypnose by Lancome. It is a really light scent but seems to last all day.

I might have to try that one, Central. The only problem I have with the Bath and Body scents is they don't last all day.

I wear Lucky alot. thats my favorite perfume in the winter. During the summer I wear a cheaper perfume but it smells sooooooo good. You can only get it at the Store PacSun and its called LiLu. It smells just like the islands and its only $20. I get compliments on it alll the time! I also like Versace Red Jeans. That smells so nice and clean

Hadn't thought about Clinique's "Happy" in a long time, Donna. I had a friend who also wore it and it was lovely. Think I might need to go shopping!

i have a very hard time with perfumes & scents because of my allergies. I can't wear anything with a strong floral bouquet. When i find something that i like and can wear i stick with it. My favorites are Magie Noir by Lancome - light spicy and Tresor also by Lancome - light floral.
I also love the body cremes by Bath and Body Works - my summer favorite is mango scented one - it smells so fresh and yummy.

It's funny that you guys should be talking about this because I used to wear perfume all the time and then got away from it. I think it happened somewhere along the time when my girls were babies. They are now 8 and 12 and I am back! I love mild scents. My two favorites are Pure Grace by Philosophy and White Ginger that is an island fragrance made (i think) in St. Thomas. The Pure Grace smells like I just got out of the tub according to my 8 year old!!

You guys have inspired me! I think I'm going to the mall tomorrow and wander thru the cosmetic section of Parisian....

I'm a Magie Noie person too. I've been wearing it for years. On occasion I still wear Arpege - talk about showing your age.

After LisaK mentioned Tresor I tried it out several times on our last cruise. I like it a lot too but haven't purchased any yet.

Speaking of "old" perfumes, I still love and wear Chantilly! Guess you all know how old I am now ! Anyone else still "stuck"??

Fern, I have a bottle of Chantilly in my stash too. It was what I wore when my husband and I met. I still wear it on occasion - especially when I want to put that twinkle in Mr. Blossom's eye.

I should have posted that I took the plunge and bought Dior's Miss Dior Cherie. I bought body cream and the sales woman gave me a generous sample of perfume, too. The Dior fragrance did not have a travel size, so I thought a body cream would work. I also liked Shi by Alfred Sung.

Boy, scents are expensive! I hadn't looked at perfumes in so long, I got sticker shock!

From a man's point, I love the fragrance of Chanel Number 5 and Opium. I also personally love the scent of the old, cheap, Ciarra (sp). It was big in the 80's. I had my wife try it but something with her body chemistry made her smell like she was wearing Kennel Number 5.

Then there is a the essence of Jovan Musk and Wrigley's spearmint. It has a special place in my heart but I won't go there.

Just remember the more you use a scent, the more you and your partner get used to it and you end up using more of it. The end result is that you put too much on and become too scented to others around you. Your lovely fragrance becomes a "stink.". So alternate fragrances or keep using the same amount even if it seems that it doesn't smell as strong as it used to.

Take care,
Mike

I remember Ciarra! I was disappointed when it was discontinued.

I've been wearing Coco Chanel for several years and stock up whenever we're in the Caribbean (I save about $20-$30 per bottle, between lower price and no sales tax).
