flip flops, sandals, what?
What shoes do you wear most and in what areas of the ship? Would you wear flip flops to dinner? I'm not talking about the plastic ones you'd wear to the pool, but nice ones, maybe with a sundress.

openwater,

Most ships have at least one lounge with live music for dancing, and many ships also have about a half hour of dancing in the show lounge before the show. Thus, you probably will want shoes that are suitable for dancing (that is, a dress style with leather soles rather than rubber soles) unless you absolutely, positively don't like to dance. Norm. |
I have a nice pair of leather flip flops that I have worn to dinner on casual night. I wouldn't recommend going dancing in them, but for dinner they are OK.

There are flip flops ... and there are flip flops.
You said you were not talking about plastic ones -- so do you really mean sandals? I have worn sandals -- the flat kind -- to dinner on casual nights. On the ship during the day I wear Crocs flip flops, which I recently bought and love. |
the plastic flip-flops are fine for on deck, by the pool or at the beach.
flat leather sandals ( i guess those could be called flip-flops), slides, low-heeled casual sandals or kitten heels are fine with a casual sundress. Espadrilles also would be fine. |
Thanks. I guess what I was thinking of could really be called sandals. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row before I go shopping!

I wore leather sandals on the last cruise a lot. I hadn't worn sandals in about 40 years. I usually wore white tennis shoes when we at in the dining room. On the formal nights, I wore wingtips. She wore sandals as much as I did and appropriate shoes to the compliment mine..
