Default Confused about dinners when it's not formal night

If you put on something decent for the dining room (not formal nights), do you go back to your cabin and change back into shorts or something more comfortable? Or, is what you wear to dinner what most people wear for the rest of the night to the piano bar, shows, etc. Do you need to dress nicer than what you wear to dinner to the shows, bars, casino, etc?

Thanks!

you will probably get a lot of different opinions; the only time I change after dinner is on formal night, but I do not go into the casino or shows at night in shorts or flip flops; I usually wear a nice top with dressy slacks, skirt or the newer mid-length shorts with nice shoes.
I don't even pack blue jeans for a cruise.

The answer probably varies somewhat among cruise lines, but most people do not go back to their cabins and change on "casual" evenings. A polo shirt and a pair of slacks (Dockers, Haggar, or whatever) that fit properly are not exactly uncomfortable. Likewise, most ladies find a knit top and skirt or a sun dress to be pretty comfortable for the evening.

i totally agree with the others. Unless you are going swimming or to the spa after dinner most folks stay in their casual dinner clothes for the entire evening.

Default changing clothes

Make sure to take a light jacket or sweater -- the theatres where the shows are can be pretty chilly.

Unless I was going for a late night swim or sauna I can't imagine why it would be worth the trip back to the cabin to change.
