Default Do manicures last in salt water?

I know weird, but I've never been in salt water. If I get red nails, will they start chipping cause I'm in salt water a lot? What does everyone do about their manicure/pedicure when they take a 7 day cruise?

Thanks!

If I bother with polish, I use a very light pink tone. Then, I pretty much ignore it. A friend went with us once with dark red nails and had to have her manicure redone after a few days. I couldn't see that there was even a chip in her polish, but to each their own. I refuse to spend time/money/energy on a manicure at sea.

I almost always get a French mani/pedi before a cruise.

I've had colors before and have not had trouble with chipping.

No, salt water doesn't affect your nails. If your stylist puts a final coat of clear polish on, you are all set. Actually, they should do this automatically!

Your nails will be fine. Trust me, been getting mine done for 15 years every other week except for 4 months out of the year where I have them taken off to give my nails a breather.

Salt water, no, but beware of sunscreen! In the summer, I sunscreen 20 kids at daycare, at least twice a day. I have taken to wearing surgical gloves to do so, because the sunscreen eats away at any polish (and I only wear clear or pale pink!). Makes you wonder what we're slathering on our skin doesn't it, if it can take off nail polish?!!

Rollerdonna - not only sunscreen but insect repellant as well. Both make my nails sorta' sticky, as though it's melted the polish or acrylic. And it stays sticky for hours and hours.
