Default Your Suit is Ready Monsieur

Nvabill, since I read you think a woman can never go wrong with black slacks...and I SO agree, I am curious about how our guys here, shop for a suit.

Do you go with a ceratin color in mind? Is it always a dark color? Black Ist choice?

Do you try on many?

Solid only, or go crazy for pinstripe?

Do you mull over the tie? Conservative, or a zany on perhaps?

Would you wear, say, a pink, lilac, or aqua shirt, or always white?

Are you a French cuff kinda guy, and love cufflinks?

If you bought a brown suit, would you then have to get a brown shoe too?

Slip ons or tie?

Can a guy , have to many black slacks?

I would say no here too

Well, I would have said that about a black skirt. Unfortunately, I have seen more than a few persons of female persuasion wearing slacks that emphasized the fact that they had bulges in all the wrong places. Skirts really are a lot more forgiving!

Unfortunately, we guys are pretty much stuck with the colors that are on the rack at any given time and the choices tend to be relatively few. Black, brown, navy, charcoal, light grey, tan, and sometimes dark green tend to be pretty common. One sometimes finds light blue, light green, and a few other light shades in the late winter and spring. There may be some variation in styles (single breasted or double breasted, with or without vest, etc.) and occasionally suits with a second pair of pants made from fabric with a multicolor pattern, one color of shich is the color of the jacket and the other pair of pants.

No. I normally pick out a suit that I like, in my approximate size and the color that I select, and then try it on. If it's the wrong size, I'll try on another. Once I find the right size, it's sold.

I tend toward solids.

No, I just pick out neckties that I like when I see them. I have some that are conservative and some that are pretty wild.

It depends upon the occasion, the suit, and current trends. Right now, all of my dress shirts happen to be white.

Yes, but the cufflinks must match the tiebar....

I do have both brown and black dress shoes, but I have never owned a brown suit. FBOW, brown has never been one of my favorite colors....

I actually prefer buckles, but I have gone to slip-ons because I have not been able to find buckle shoes of decent quality for the past few years.

I prefer a bit of variety. so I have only one pair of each color that I own.

Norm.

Trip- since the majority of us women shop with our men for their suits and such, i would like to offer my opinion. DH looks best in navy. I don't like a black suit. I love him in colored shirts, but he does have white ones. French cuffs definatley, conservative and fun, funky ties. A suit with a conservative subtle pinstripe is very nice. Dh prefers lace oxford shoes. Doesn't wear brown. He has tan, navy and black trousers
