I'm doing a project on themed cruises, and I was wondering where you see the future of the themed cruise industry going in the next ten years? Is it growing? How popular are themed cruises in comparison to regular cruises? Will it become the standard for cruise companies to implement some sort of theme into their future cruises? Any sort of help you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks
There are theme cruisers of ALL kinds, and I am sure they will only get more popular for several reasons:
(1) ships are ultra convenient for exhibition companies; they already hotel, theater and food facilities. All these facilities are in very close proximity.
(for more on this go to http://seasite.com, the home of Landry & Kling)
(2) it is way to add value to a cruise (and hence charge more for the same cruise)
(3) It can have tax advantages for corporations, etc.

I am booked on Epic out of Barcelona in May. I was wondering if there are shore excursions to Rome besides the one offered by cruise.
If I book a third party tour, is it safe? Will they pick us up from the ship or we need to get out of port on our own?
I would appreciate a recommendation.

I am sorry Donna - but we don't answer personal questions by phone or even email.
The reason is that we do not sell anything, so we have no reason to provide personal service.
If you have a question please post it in our forums.
Where did you post your question? You can ask me here!

I suggest you post this under Norwegian Cruise Lines - or in the "Europe" forum.
The answer is that the train station is not far away, and that is the cheapest way tpo get to Rome.
You can also book independent tours - I would google "Civitavecchia tours to Rome" and see what you get. I'll bet there are dozens of tour guides who do this, and I agree it is a good way to go.

Paul ,do you check out other on line cruise boards to determine if there are ways to improve CM ?
Sorry, but I am not here to discuss the business of CruiseMates - just cruise questions.
Everybody has ideas on how all sorts of thing could be made better, but they generally conceive those ideas under ideal conditions - and we don't live in an ideal world.
I already know exactly what I would do to "improve" CruiseMates, and some of those ideas are being worked on right now, but I don't own the company and those decisions and the timetable are not up to me.

Also - I prefer that people create a NEW thread for each question, I don't want them all in this one thread, so I am locking this one, but feel free to "create new thread" to ask me a cruise question.
