I usually take my laptop when going on a cruise for email and small amount of web browsing while away. I am thinking about getting an Ipad, with wifi only. Do they connect just as easily as a laptop while on a cruise. I am not asking the speed, as it always sucks, but the connetability. Thanks

They absolutely do! And if you get the camera cable you can download your photos every night to your iPad for safe keeping.
Yes they do connect just as well. They only problem I see with them is that you can't really log off to type your email & posts, because its all webmail, right?
Plus typing is a little clumsy on them, so it takes longer to type an email or post.

When I was in Quebec I bought an Internet plan from Princess. I would have to log into that account with my browser and once logged in my iPad would download mail like normal directly onto the iPad. I sent out a travel blog each night of our happenings from an app on my iPad and that wasn't an issue either. My only issue was how slooooooow it was.
