I just read in the local newspaper that changes will happen onboard DISNEY MAGIC when it goes into drydock late this month. The teen-club, Common Grounds, will be relocated to the ESPN Sports Bar. The new teen-club will be renamed The Stack. The old teen-club will become an adult-only spot called Cove Cafe. The sports bar will join a newly named multi-purpose club, Diversions. This place is currently a Piano Bar. The Disney Wonder might also get the same next year.
i liked the Magics old teen club but i think the stack will be fun as well. I just wish Disney would do something with the 18-21 age group. Disney does excellent work with teens now they need to work with young adults. I think by bringing the teen club to where the ESPN club is it gives the teens more room.
Thanks for the insight Maxie. Is the old teen-club need the other kids facility? Cuz if it is, then there is now an adult -only place and I wonder how the adults would think about the kids and kids think about adults so near to rheir place...
no the old teen club was up on the 9th deck and it was called common grounds. it was in the middle of the ship by the damily pool. the rest of the kids stuff(oceaneers lab and oceaneers club) is on deck 5 and in the middle of the ship. the new place stacks will be on the 11th deck(but you have to go to the 10th deck first to get there or midship elevators) midship. its the only thing on the 11th deck and its really not even a whole deck its just a room. hope that helps answer your question.
nope but i'm going on august 7th. i wouldn't worry about meeting people before hand. i did that the first year and only hung out with one of the 5 i met and this past year i didn't meet anyone before hand and had a blast. you'll have a lot of fun and the counselors have always been amazing!
Disney Revitalizes Magic
Disney Magic, fresh out of dry dock, has acquired a bit of a new look, which, says a cruise line spokeswoman, will focus not just on family-oriented features, but also on attractions and amenities that will appeal solely to adults.
New twists added to the ship include "Cove Cafe," an adult-oriented coffee bar. Adjacent to the adult-only pool area, the cafe will include Internet/email stations, gourmet coffees and other specialty drinks, and light fare. Diversions, located on "Beat Street," Disney Magic's all-adult evening entertainment "district," is the name of the ship's new sports pub and, beyond big screens showing major competitions via satellite, there will be theme nights – football tailgating, British pub, etc. It takes over from the former "OffBeat" bar.
Teen-related features have also gotten an overhaul. Gone is "Common Grounds," the original teen facility. Replacing it is The Stack, a larger teen club, with giant screen television for movies and a dedicated dancing room. It's housed in the ship's cosmetic smokestack (ESPN Skybox, which formerly occupied the space, got the boot).
Some more info about what changes were done... I will try to get some pictures later.
