Hey, who here has ever been to Hawaii? I want to go there next summer (cruise or not) and was wondering what there is to do there if you stay at a resort. Is it less fun then a cruise? Is it a long flight there? Is it even worth it?
We went to Maui a while back. We were there for a week. It's like a 5 hour flight from lax. Double that and add connections if you're coming from Florida. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua cause our travel agent found us some ridiculously good deal for like $150 a night. It was really really nice at that hotel. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend going. We saw waterfalls, hiked through the rainforest, hung around at the beach and pools, snorkeled, watched the sunrise from the top of a volcano, and just relaxed. There was still a lot of stuff that we didn't get to do. I'd definitely go back again. I'd like to try another island for something different. From what I hear, you shouldn't do a cruise because they just aren't enough time to see everything. If you're going back soon, then maybe a cruise would be good to figure out which island you'd like to spend more time at.

Ok i went to hawwai it got a little boring in the hotel. Hawwaii is beutiful go for a cruise deifiently ok Dan. I was in a hotel and i met no people. It sucked out loud. Ok i hated it. I did like hawwaii but i hated the resort because I didnt meet anyone. My suggestion is if you wanna stay in one island long and see alot take a 7day hawwaian cruise. Oh and by the way for a room my suggestion is a balcony because hawwaii is beutiful and very cool.
I found some good ones for you.
Dan dan dan, Hawaii just cant compare to the fun level of a cruise. If you want to hike around and see things go to hawaii. you cant go wrong with a cruise. When I flew from my old house in Miami to Honolulu, we got there about 14 hours later. Figure 2 more hours with a layover in HNL if you want to go to one of the exotic islands ie Kuaui or the Big Island. The Hilton Waikola Village on the big island was AWESOME but there wasnt many teens. The price of that flight is like 800+ from florida, more than a decent priced cruise!!

yea ive gone to hawaii cause my mom won a trip so it was free for us!hehehe. But we went o Maui and kaui. My favorite would be kaui because it wasnt as crouded. It was so pretty!the flight was 14 hourse from d.c. and we had a small layover in cali.
like joe said the surf is awsome!
I loved my land trip to Hawaii when I was 16. We spent two weeks there, the first week in Oahu and the second in kuai. Oahu we stayed right on Waikkiki Beach with Diamond Head in view. Kaui is SO natural. You can see the beach, the mountains, and the tropics. I dont think you would see that from a cruise just stopping on the islands. We found plent of activities to do at the resorts. We stayed at timeshares, so the people that were there with us were there all week. It was way worth the trip and if I were to do it again I would do a land thing.
I guess I'm lucky that I live in Cali, so its only about a 4 and a half hour flight...but right now I wish I lived on the East coast, seeing as how it would cut down my flying time to Italy by 6 hours!
Hawaii is beautiful, the islands are great, but I'd rather go on a cruise than go to Hawaii.
I've been to Maui(twice), Kauai, and the Big Island. I had an absolutely fabulous time. We stayed at resorts (Kauai Marriot, Outrigger Waikoloa -Big Island, and Embassy Suites Resort Kaanapali Maui). It took us 10 hours to get to Honolulu from New Jersey and then the other islands are 30 minute flights from there. When we were there we rarely styed at the resort, and drove to volcanoes, cultural sights, ruins, museums, markets etc. Why go all the way to Hawaii just to stay at a resort, that is not the "real" Hawaii. Snorkeling and surfing were great too. I wouldn't suggest taking a cruise to Hawaii since alot of the sights and attraction are a distance away and you need a car. Each island warrants at least 4 days to begin to see everything.
Hope that helps,
hey dan my family and i went to maui last summer and we stayed in the Kapalua bay villas nice place, but are Ta didn't tell us that it was on a golf resort which was fine but full of old people but we still had fun after the seven hour flight from dallas.
If you want to go to more then one island take a cruise. If you just want to go to one of the islands stay at a hotel or a condo. Hawaii is pretty fun. I've only been to Oahu and Maui. I stayed on Oahu for one week. I've been to Maui 6 or 7 time for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. i've also been to Lanai for a couple hours but there wasn't much to do there. Some of the other islands are Molikai, the Big Island, Lanai and Kauai. There's pairasailing, snorkeling, diving, swimming, surfing, windsurfing, shopping, and lots of stuff to do on all the islands.
