Default RCI.....LABADEE news update

I just read that RCI has suspended all visits to their private island in Labadee, Haiti due to the violence and conflicts going on in Haiti. The private island day has been replaced by a sea day, but RCI will have interim itinerary.

Duct Tape,
Yep, correction for Wayne, all cruises with Labadee are either staying later in port, going to Nassau or Freeport, or will have a day @ sea.

(With the acception of Brillance of the Seas, which will be stopping @ Coco Cay)

Yea duct_tape_pro, you are right. Honestly, there is nothing much to do in Freeport...

From RCI's press room:
___________
Voyager of the Seas
March 14, Western Caribbean sailing, substitute port call at Grand Bahama Island

Explorer of the Seas
March 13, Western Caribbean sailing, substitute port call at Grand Bahama Island

Navigator of the Seas
March 6, Western Caribbean sailing, substitute port call at Grand Bahama Island
March 13, Eastern Caribbean sailing, substitute port call at Coco Cay

Brilliance of the Seas
March 8, Ultimate Caribbean sailing, substitute port call at Grand Bahama Island

Mariner of the Seas
March 7, Western Caribbean sailing, substitute port call at Grand Bahama Island
March 14, Eastern Caribbean sailing, substitute port call at Grand Bahama Island

Royal Caribbean looks forward to resuming port calls in Labadee in the very near future.

Royal Caribbean Extends Labadee Cancellations Indefinitely -- Updated!
It probably will come as no surprise: Royal Caribbean has announced this week that, in light of the continued escalation of upheaval in Haiti, it will now discontinue scheduled ship calls at Labadee on an indefinite basis. The cruise line had announced last month that it was canceling stops there on the short-term.

Labadee is Royal Caribbean's private island-like beach area on Haiti's north coast. A Royal Caribbean spokesman says that Labadee is untouched by the rebel insurgence.

Basically -- and schedules are subject to change -- ships impacted by the announcement have been "assigned" a replacement. In contrast to information we published earlier this week, where substitutions ranged from an extended day in San Juan to a call to CocoCay, Royal Caribbean has altered those plans. At this point -- Friday, March 5 -- all of the impacted ships, at least in the near-term, will use Grand Bahama Island (with one exception: Navigator of the Seas' March 13 voyage will go to Coco Cay). This includes the following ships: Voyager of the Seas (March 14); Explorer of the Seas (March 13); Navigator of the Seas (March 6); Brilliance of the Seas (March 8) and Mariner of the Seas (March 7 and 14).

The spokesman emphasizes that, while the cruise line expects these changes to be accurate on a regular basis, the schedule alterations are not set in stone as much depends on previously committed week-by-week traffic in the added ports of call (and RCI passengers on affected ships may instead wind up with an extra sea day).

Royal Caribbean is the only major cruise line to call on Haiti.
