I heard that you weren't supposed to wear flip-flops at all during dinner in the Dining Room on RCI ships. I dont know how true that is, but my mom wouldn't let me wear them.

On Mariner I wore sandals into the dining room. They are brown leather thong kind. No one said anything.

Dan, maybe that's just because they all know Dan Polulak, king of all teen cruisers
The cruiseline would be ruined if you were to mention, in one of your reviews, a confrontation because of your thong sandles.
Do they ever actually say anything about your dress code? If you show up in a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers will the waiter make you leave? I'm not about to try it, I'm just curious as to whether they actually enforce this kind of thing.

People do, they don't reinforce it.

Wearing flip-flops is frowned upon, technically you aren't supposed to wear them. Personally I never would, but it would not bother me much if others did.

If you insist on wearing flip-flops, maybe you can buy the ones with the little kitten heels so they would at least look a little dressier.

Well on celebrity i wore flip flops on a casual nite and it was fine but they do enforce dress code. My friend got asked to go back to his cabin to put on a jacket coz he was only wearing a shirt and tie one nite, thought that was pretty strict.

I am bringing my fave pair of black dress shoes, and my nice flip flops. I dunno. I'll think about it later.

I admire people who have the guts to wear flip-flops in the dining room...I wish I could, but I'm naturally a very dressy person even on land, I kind of fall in the dressy-casual type category. I always wear stilettos for dinner but it comes at a price by the end of the night haha.

Just because no one says anything dosen't mean they like it. According to most cruise lines, flip flops should not be worn in the dining room. In most cases no one is going to say anything to you or prevent you from entering the dining room, but different shoes are prefered. I know it's tempting to just wear them anyhow since technically you can get away with it, but it really isn't the right thing to do. To each's own I guess.

I don't think they really enforce that rule if it is true. They crew probably doesn't have time for a dress code. They may say though, that they would prefer it if you would wear dressy shoes. I'm not sure.

gosh darn. i dont know where you all are, but in california, pretty much every girl i know wers nothing besides flip slops suring summer, and i wont be any different. im not even wearing skirts to dinner (except formal night). im wearing really dressy capris and a nice top and flip flops. they have those new flip flops with the tiny heel which might be nice. theyre comy but they like a little bit more formal. i think theyre like 10 bucks at jc penny.

i ahve worn flip flops to dinner before....at the current time anything that has any elevation makes it insanley painful due to an knee injury so they can either have me hopping on one foot in a formal dress through the dining room that almost covers my feet or me in flipflops when al lyou can se are my toes and the flip flops match my dress and all.....i just wore my flip flops to a funeral the other day cuze of my knee and no one said anything to me that it was inaproperate, its not like i am this guy i saw on my last cruise eating in jeans and dress shirt on a formal night (that was on princess) not htat it bothered me cze my little brother olyn wears polo shirts and dockers for formal nights

Wearing flip-flops in California during summer is one thing, but wearing them in the dining room is another (at least on nights other than casual nights, although I wouldn't wear them regardless).

It depends...if they're just flat, casual pool flip flops, then you REALLY shouldn't, but if they're nice flip flops that you could dress up OR down, then i guess you could wear them. (If you don't have any dressy shoes.)
