mmmmm.. i know i made a post kinda like this a while back.. but then that incident with swissmiss happened and such andddddd ya.. so..

im thinking of getting an mp3 player for my birthday.. probably an ipod.. but i have a two questions..

- i have a lot of cd's.. is it possible for me to put my cd's onto the ipod? would i need to convert them to mp3's or anything?

- do i need to download all my songs from itunes? or can i still use my songs from other downloading software..

You can dowload cds onto an ipod in about a minute, I dont think you have to convert them to mp3, but Im not sure.

You can still use the songs from other downloading softwares, you just need to copy the files into itunes so you can download them onto the ipod.

You can put CD's on your Ipod, but you must convert them to eigther ACC or MP3 (if you used mp3 use the LAME encoder it is slower than many but offers much better sound quality to size).

And you CANNOT download from other services than Itunes. All other services use .wma which the Ipod DOES NOT play. This is a hassle because other services (such as Walmart $0.88 and buy.com $0.79) are much cheaper than the 99 cents per song.

what about like.. limewire or kazaa.. which you can download mp3's from?

do either of you ahve an ipod? cause both you guys are giving me totally different answers.. so one of u must be wrong.. hmm

yea i was wondering the same thing cuz i hav kazaa..and my mom spent the money for that--so i was wondering if its even worth buying an ipod if i cant put anything on it from kazaa

kazza songs are mp3's which can be played by the ipod. I was refering to the legal services such as Napster, and Musicmatch, which use wma.

No, I do not own an Ipod, I own a dell DJ. But i did a lot of research into the ipod when deciding which to buy.

PS.
If you have a windows computer you will have to buy an additional cord to use a regular Ipod, mini Ipods come with it.

yep u can put ur cds on ur ipod, just get iTunes, put all the songs on there than put them on ur ipod.

on all music share programs you can download a variety of file types most are .mp3's and some are .wma, .wma are cd quality while mp3's are slightly less all .wma's can be converted to mp3

dont get the i pod, the mp3 player gateway has out now olds the same amout of gigs and its about a hundred - two hundred cheaper

as long as the format is mp3 you can put it onto your ipod. Even if yu download it and it is in say, wmv format you can still convert it fif you know how.

so basically, your ipod can take anything.

i'm thinking about getting one of these but i have a few questions.....

- what brand do u think is best

- if you get an ipod do u HAVE TO download from itunes...can i use my free musi from winmx?

- do all brands connect to your car?

well, with the ipod, you just upload everything into itunes, and anything thats on itunes is automatically updated to your ipod when you plug it into your computer. i uploaded all my cd's and songs from lime wire onto there, and haven't spend 1 cent at itunes, it's really easy/convenient.

and you can also buy a connector that plugs into your car for the ipod, i don't know about other mp3 players though.

Ipod is soooooooooooo not worth it yea get the gateways its cheaper. Also i got a question is lime wire or kazza legal.
