Default What does the color/aft mean?!

Hey, I just got my cruise package thing from Carnival today - and I'm assigned to the Purple Aft series of staterooms... does anybody know what the heck this means?! I heard being Aft or Back can make you really sick; is this true? And what about this purple business... does it refer to the deck or what?

This totally confused me, so I would appreciate any response.

Also, is it still possible to ask for an upgrade (unlikely, I know) even though we have assigned staterooms, unlike some TBA cruisers I've heard about?

Thanks,
Genevieve<3<3

The color of your tag refers to the part of the ship your room is on. It makes it easier to keep track of your baggage so it can be delivered. Basically, each tag will have the deck and forward, midship, or aft. For example, Verandah forward. That means you are in the front part of the verandah deck. If your tag said Riviera Aft you would be in the back of the Riviera deck.

no, it is not nessecarily bad to be at the back, you will just feel the vibrations from the engine more. really its not that bad.

Genevieve, which Carnival ship are you going on? The new Carnival ships are fitted with Azipod Propulsion System, which is suppose to lessen or even be vibration-free... If you are in the lower decks, the sea motion is lessen and the higher you go, the more the ship rolls. I've heard that its easier to get motion sickness if your cabin is located in one of the upper decks.

yea the lower part of the ship is a lot better for motion. We've been on the bottom decks on both my cruises and we havent felt much or anything sometimes. Where i would talk to my friends that i met who are on decks 8 and higher and they complain about how much their room moves. So if ur afriad of getting sick or jus dont want to move and stuff id stay lower on the ship...and more towards the middle cuz then u wont get the vibrations from the back and movement in the front. Plus the middle is close to the main elevators

I see..... Wayne, I'm going on the Glory, which is a new ship, so it'll probably be good for stabilizing and all that.

Still don't know exactly where 'purple' is (meh!) but I do know my cabin number is six-four-something-something. I guess I'll see when I board

If your room starts with a 6, then you're on the Upper Deck. The color Purple really doesnt mean anything. On my cruise I was Empress Aft and my color tag was yellow.. so its just a color-coded way of organizing the rooms.

Hey, XoAshleyoX, I'm going on August 21 ...

Upper deck eh? Cool. I hope I'm not to close to my mom's room, though. Hers also begins six-four-something-something. Pah!
