I don't want to be offensive so i will say it in the most unoffensive way possible. If i do happen to offend anyone I apologize in advance, but this is a touchy subject and someone is bound to be offended by it.
There is more to same sex marriages than just conjugal ethics. If we moved back in time, like, 200 years homosexuality was considered sinful and nasty and maybe even pagan. Now it's completely acceptable. Does this mean that society is degrading? Take something else for example like...porn. As you can see, it's basically the same thing; we have run into the exact same quandry. Sex sex sex. A plethoria of sex. Hedonism is the dominant religion today - everyone knows that. Humans are so lecherous and prurient. In society today, there is very little intertia. We have been brought up this way. In North America, anything goes, and it shows. Other countries in the world are disgusted by this mentality. They feel threatened because as American culture is becoming more and more dominant in their societies, they see an invasion of American morals as well.
I remember as a child, "gay" was one of those forbidden words; it was not because of its deregatory connotation. I am sure that the rest of you will find similar memories if you think back. True, we have been hebetated by the media, and our peers and teachers and our leaders. That is important, but the question that is even more overbearingly carking: "Will we pass these ethical standards on to our children? Will our children suffer the bombardment of the media, their teachers, their peers and their leaders before they come to this mentality that sex sex sex, debacuhery is acceptable? "
It's like digging a hole, like a lawn, the media, our peers, our teachers and our leaders just put one ditbbit in the grass (that little hole is usus), now, is the hole going to dig itself?
Anyway wrapping it up. Long story short. A long time ago people abhored homosexuality. Today, it's fine. Along time ago people abhored porn. Today, it's fine. There are many more examples. Is society going down the drain? In this age, anything is acceptable as long as it doesn't hurt me. Is society going down the drain? That's the question behind the debate.
