Virus on RCCL Freedom of the Seas

The world's largest cruise ship was due to sail out of Miami yesterday after workers spent two days trying to scrub away all traces of a gastrointestinal virus that had made hundreds of people ill on two earlier voyages.

The cleansing of the Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas came after the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) recommended special sanitising of all high contact areas. Two doctors and 45 extra cleaning staff will also be on board as the ship sails the Caribbean.

yea, my dad just told me that he had originally scheduled us to sail on the Freedom next week but changed his mind and booked on the Mariner. I guess I'm kind of glad but at the same time thinking I COULD HAVE BEEN ON FREEDOM!!!!!

Wow thats so scary to think about...like oh yay youre all excited to go on a cruise (especailly an amazing ship such as Freedom of the Seas) and then come home sick!!!!! gahhh

but the threats of the Norovirus are not going to stop me from cruising.

My dad's friend was on the ship. They had like sanitizers all over the ship and they told them to try to not touch anything! WTF! I know?! He didn't get sick though, good thing. But that sucks for all the other people. They were basically quarentined* on the ship. Sucky vacation.

i think hand sanitizers are required now on cruise ships...they were all over my ship in november!! but the thing is getting people to actually use them!

that would suck to get sick on a cruise.. ive gotten a lil sick on one but nothing that an advil and sum fun friends couldnt cure lol but yea psh kristina i use hand sanitizers all the time i carry them on me 24/7! i <3 them..and they really do work!

haha yea i love sanitizers toooo! im a freak about washing my handss. but yea i would hate to be sick on a cruise. and yucky freedom of the seas.. i just hate big ships what can i say?

hey i have nothing against hand sanitizers...but i know a lot of people dont use them!! im always washing my hands! but i still get sick! my school is really big so whatever. im never sick in the summer though! so i think the weather has something to do with it. on my last cruise i was only sick for like the first day cuz i had a cold getting on..but the whole cruise atmosphere cured me (or i had so much fun i forgot about being sick)

I'm OCD over washing my hands! They always have to be clean, or I start to flip out and cannot contol myself... Like I can't concentrate on anything else before I wash my hands, thoroughly!

Wow... I'm not OCD or anything about washing my hands but I do like to keep clean.

I used to get sick a lot when I was younger, but I guess my body is now immune to it so I'm not sick that often. If I was sick over my cruise I would be SOOOOOO mad. That would just suck!

i just love how clean my hands feel when i use the sanitizer. so i use it whenever i see it.

i dont like the way my hands feel after i use the sanitizer. they feel all alcholychemically. yes. haha.

but after i wash my hands i like how they feel. esp if the soap smells yummy.

yeaa its something with vacations. cuz i used to be ALWAYS sick before vacations in the winter but once i was on a cruise or in disney world or something I WOULD BE CURED!
