Heyy guys i posted this same topic on the other forums but i was hoping that maybe some of you can help me too. I wanted to know your opinions of what are the best places to go shopping in St. Maartin (like what stores and stuff) and also what are the best beaches in St. Thomas???
Shopping in St Maarten
Most of the stores are along Front Street. thats where you can find all the designer stores like Coach..and some island wear stores (which have cute clothes!)..and you have to go the Guavaberry place!! and get a guavaberry colada!! DELICIOUS!!! theyre $5. and amazing. theres also another street...like the next one back from Front Street....that has the cheaper local stores.
St Thomas Beaches
The only beach i have been to in St Thomas is Sapphire. its was like a resort there...and tons of iguanas!! and we had this local guy climb a coconut tree and get us a fresh coconut to eat and drink..for $2! yumm! (take the bus here...its only like $1 a person!!!) Magens Beach is supposed to be amazing too!! its the most popular..and a short taxi ride from the cruise port. i want to go there the next time im in St Thomas...cept it costs money to get into?? (Entry Fee: Adults $3 ($1/residents), Car $1, Kids .25 cents) Its the only beach with an entry fee. Morning Star Beach also looks nice...and Coki Beach for snorkling!

Guavaberry colada..omg..delicious drink!!! only in St Maarten!!
Guavaberry Colada recipe
1 oz guavaberry liqueur
1/2 oz creme de coconut
1 1/2 oz pineapple juice
Pour all ingredients into a blender with 1/4 cup crushed ice. Blend well. Pour into a cocktail glass, and top with a dash of pineapple juice. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg and a pineapple wedge, and serve.
you can order the liquor online at their site...but it tastes soooo much better when your in St Maarten!!

St. Thomas has a large variety of shops located in this little shopping village right off of the cruise pier. There are also a good many shops within a few minutes of the beaches in every direction. Appx. Cab fare is $4.00 per person within 15 minutes of the pier and more accordingly based on how far you want to go. We went to Magens beach and it truly is beautiful and they have some good drinks. Keep in mind that although this is the Caribbean and the drinking age is 18, u are in a US territory so if they card you or u get caught its gonna be like in the US, so my reccomendation: drink in St. Maarten. My experience was that St. Thomas has the largest selection of Jewelry and St. Maarten the largest selection of Liquor, cheap liquor. We brought back enough from St. Maarten to get a small army drunk. Stupid cruise security guards!
In St. Maarten we took an excursion to orient beach and this is THE place to go, there are so many opportunities! The drinking age is 16 and even if u look 12, they'll sell to you. Keep in mind that sometimes the prices are in euro so u may need to do the conversion which varies based on the owner. Also please keep in mind these drinks are STIFF, 3 and i was shot for the day and i have a high tolerance. If you like beer, try Carib, a smooth local lager that is pleasing to the palate. Also keep in mind that this is a clothing optional beach and on one end of the beach there is a nudist resort. The nudists will be wearing 1 thing and 1 thing only and that is their birthday suit! Some of these birthday suits will be ironed and others will certainly (more of the later). But its a great experience and theres also plenty of cheap watersports to try. As for shopping, check out front street, as there are many shops offering all kinds of wares, many local rums. There are also 2 Casinos, Jump Up and Diamond Casino, both of which are ancient! Oh and of you take the orient beach tour not only is it like a rollercoaster ride through the mountains but they will also drop you off at front street on the way back. Front street is right near the ship pier, 20 minute stroll or 2 minute cab ride.
