OT: Relay For Life Team Name....

Okay, so let me explain what the relay for life is really quick so you can help me out.

The Relay For Life is sponsered by the American Cancer Society. It's an 18-hour relay to help raise money for finding a cure to cancer, honoring cancer survivors, and honoring those going through cancer.

Basically I have to get a team of people together to walk for two days (it's overnight, we sleep in tents and take turns walking for 18 straight hours) to help raise money and awareness for cancer.

I need your help in coming up with some sort of team name for this event. I have a lot of planning with coming up with a team, the name, the donation forms, etc. so I really need your help. Any good ideas for a team name?

haha... Any ideas are great. Seriously! Because even if the name is cheezy maybe someone else can expand upon the name.

my aunt & uncle did something like this but it was for premature babies, since they had a son you was born 3 months premature .. they were supposed to have triplets but the two girls died in my aunts stomach and so now they have only a boy! it was soo sad!

but i love like the walks and stuff there was one near our towns last year..i couldnt go cause i was on the cruise!

This will be my first walk but I am very supportive of cancer and finding a cure. Today was the first time I found out about this walk for a cure thing (it's the first one that has been brought to our school) and all of a sudden I have ton of stuff to do.

I have to figure out how to find 10 people that are willing to walk for 18 hours and sleep in a tent for a night all in a week and a half! It may not seem like much but my school is known as the "rich and preppy school" the name says it all. I'm not sure how many of these kids have ever slept anywhere near the outside or walked for anything but themselves, so I am going to have some work with this one.

Not only finding the people (which will be hard enough), but then I have to worry about raising money, setting up the team website, and going to all the meetings (because I am the team leader I basically have to represent the group of people that will walk), as well as sign us up for our tent. I'm the kind of person that ends up doing everything or it won't get done, but I am really supportive of this relay and really want to be involved so I am excited about it. Hopefully I can find enough people though.... lol

Any more team names you can think of?

yeah it was she had like 10 miscariges before that..it was really sad!

but yeah i had to have surgery 4 times on my leg because i had a birthmark that would cause cancer...

but hmm..when i think of a name ill let you know! good luck with getting people and stuff

Oh wow! 4 surgeries! But at least they got rid of the cancer-causing birthmark. That's good that they got rid of all of it. How old were you when that happened?

I started having surgery in 3rd grade..then another one in 4th, then in 5th, then in 6th..

but yeah i hate surgery i also had surgery in my mouth! eww..never want surgery again.

but yeah i want to do something like that one day but hopefully people really wanna do it and you wont have a problem getting people! its for a good cause

I had four surgeries too (on my legs, for breaking my leg in 6th grade)and surgeries definitely suck I couldn't agree with you more. That's part of how I started getting more involved with other illnesses and stuff though, because I couldn't walk myself for three whole years (all of middle school) and now that I can walk I really want to do something good not only for myself but for others. And the fact that I can do it by walking only gives me more motivation. This will be the longest time I have walked since all the surgeries.

That's what I'm hoping! I just keep thinking it's for a good cause, and it's not a problem getting people interested, but then once they think about it they don't wan to commit or give up a weekend or whatever and later say "nahhh... maybe not" and then I don't have enough people.

Right now I'm just hoping to figure out a team name and then tomorrow start recruiting people.

I came up with a few names (listed above) and everyone liked "Hope. Faith. Cure" the best. So that is our team name now.

It seems like a lot of kids of interested but who knows how many will actually commit and help to raise money/donate?!?!

i did that relay for life last yr! we did a car wash and a bake sale to start off raising money..we did that on one sunday and raised like 700$ it was crazy rediculous but it was a lot of fun and for a good cause.

i did that relay for life last year too because my school made me. it was kinda fun, didnt sleep over, but i definitely shed some water when they were talking about all the stories. so sad
