Default Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian, or Carnival

Okay everybody. Here's the deal. We currently have a cruise booked on RCCL's Splendour of The Seas for spring break. But, due to family issues, it might not work out. In that case, we would go on a longer cruise in the summer. So i'm going to list the ships that sail out of Galveston/Houston, TX, and I want to know what you guys think is the best one.

Carnival Ecstasy
Carnival Conquest
RCCL Rhapsody of the Seas
RCCL Splendour of the Seas
Princess Grand Princess
Norwegian Dream

I would probably throw the Norwegian ship out because the clientel on Norwegian ships is typically more adults than families which means less teens. I have no experience with that Princess ship so my money would be put on the Carnival Conquest. The Conquest class of ships is one of their largest groups of ships and are really nice as far as Carnival ships go. They also have Club O2 which if u know me, you know my feelings about Club O2 versus Adventure Ocean.

What are your feelings about Club 02 vs. Adventure Ocean?

The thing that appeals to me about Norwegian is the whole "freestyle cruising " thing. I REALLY want to go on Celebrity, but they don't sail out of Galveston. Maybe I could convince my parents to fly somewhere and sail on a Celebrity ship.

they have personal choice on all princess ships.

but i wouldnt suggest going on that specific norweigan ship. the other newer ones, okay. but i had a family friend go on that one and they werent impressed at all.

If your able to fly to fl you would get more cruise options, and from ny/nj you would get longer cruises..

Eh, we would be willing to fly. Only if it was an AWESOME cruise with AWESOME destinations. And maybe if the city we were leaving from was worth staying in for a few days.

I'm hesitant of Carnival though. A friend of mine says Carnival is a joke, and the food is gross.

Yeah. Anyone else have any advice to offer on this?

I still can't decide what destination I would like. I've never been to the Caribbean, so I think that would be cool. I would also like to go to Hawaii. And i'd also be interested in Europe. Too bad RCCL doesn't start sailing to Australia/New Zealand until December of '07.

Anyone know of any cruises that go to Fiji?

Yeah..europe is expensive, hawaii cruises arent to bad but depending on where your flying from airfare can be quite expensive! And plus you would probably meet the most people on a caribbean cruise

Ok what you guys have in mind about Carnival is completely wrong! I have sailed on every major cruise line and can tell you that carnival is not a joke, the ships are a lot of fun and kept in very good shape and IMO they have the best food. The food on carnival is much better than on RCI. Many people associate carnival with drunk people passed out and vomiting and dirty broken ships but i think carnival takes better care of their ships and their guests. Club O2 is much nicer than AA simply because it was designed with teens in mind. The adventure oceap program is designed trying to cover all the ages from 0-17. Carnival has Camp Carnivaa for 0-14 and Club o2 for 15-17 and in turn has better activities. Also the Club O2 directors are younger and more open to and understand what teens want.

Hmm. It's interesting to see the competition between Carnival and RCCL. I'm still open to Carnival, i've just heard it's a joke. I've heard Celebrity is amazing. And What sucks about Carnival is i'm 14. So I wouldn't even be in the teen group. Even though I am a teen. Which is really stupid.

I went on Disney when i was in 5th grade..i had so much fun! But on the sailaway i was crying because the captain came on and told us we would be going to south carolina because there was a hurricane..i refused to be happy! but then i saw mickey mouse! haha..but we went to south carolina and we made it to cast away cay we missed 2 islands but whateverr! I remember I also made like slime out of blue glue and other stuff...and because we had to change ports we saw MONSTERS INC, eventhough it was still in theatres..haha

But it's family oriented..paige just came back from disney..it seemed like she met tons of people! But to be honest disney is really expensive, and it's not worth all that money

Yeah I just looked up Disney prices - for a 7 night Western Caribbean on the Magic, 3 people, oceanview deluxe room, it's like $7,000! We're paying $399/person for a 4 night RCCL cruise to Cozumel!

Disney has, hands down, the best service of any ship i've ever been on, the staff is very cordial but as jersey girl said, its very family oriented. The Stack and Common Grounds are OK but thats it. On carnival if ur 14, they let you in Club o2, guaranteed so its not a big deal and i can assure you its not a joke. My family booked 9 cruises for he first 1/2 of 07 through the summer and theyre all Carnival for a reason.

Well the Ecstasy is a Fantasy class vessel, smaller than the Conquest but it seems that they're power packed with fun. The Carnival Conquest is a beautiful ship and i think you'd love it. Its a load of fun and is high energy.
My reccomendation would be the Conquest but the Ecstasy is a lot of fun too.

Well, since you seem like the crusing expert, let me ask you another question. On RCCL, will they let a 14 year old into the 15-17 year old group? I REALLY don't want to be stuck with 12 year olds. But from what I hear, most people don't even do the activites...they just hang out with people they meet.

Yea thats true, most people just go to the club for the dancing at night. But if you are within a few weeks of being 15, then yes there is a waiver that your parents can sign that will let you into the 15-17 age group but it has to be within like 4 weeks. On Carnival they usually dont question you unless its in excess of 6 months away and honestly on Carnival your age is rarely checked at all. RCI is rather strict about age.

Yeah, I have a friend who went on the Grand Princess, she said it was awesome. She said there weren't that many teenagers, though.
