Default Formal nights

Okay, here's the question. On the formal dinner nights, could I get by with maybe khakis, a button down, and a navy blazer? Or say black pants, a button down, and a tan cashmere jacket? Or do I need a suit?

Um, you could probably wear that. But the first formal night is pretty fancy, people dress up the most for it! The second one is not so much..

Yeah, but i'm not a suit type. Too normal. I'm more of a hip and trendy GQ type. lol.

Depending on what cruise line basically anything goes on formal nights except shorts and skirts (for the girls). Typically i wear my black suit and then decide whether or not to wear a tie. I've had cruises where i wore a tux and ones where it was khakis and a polo. Its your decision.
